Bagel Shack probably sounds better than Bagel Hut, but the later is a more appropriate name based on the buildings appearance. It's actually quite easy to pass and right across the street from the KFC and Skullcandy office. Parking can be a bear and I'd suggest if you're a local to walk or ride a bike because it's good for your too.
Fresh squeezed Orange Juice, parfaits, a variety of non cream cheese spreads like Peanut butter, hummus, make the bagel sandwiches really pop and although the names can be odd and the use of cheddar in many of them off they freaking super heat them so give it time. Avo, sprouts, red onions and tomato and cream cheese if I'm feeling somewhat healthy, add bacon if idc that day.
It could be more ergonomic and show people more of the kitchen and the doorway can get crowded. More outdoor than indoor seating is a nice plus.
They offer a few smoothies, but not a lot of variety. Personally I think they are all too sweet and they've stayed away from the who barista part of breakfast to focus on making larger than usual, fluffy bagels with just the right amount of chewiness. Not over colored and toast better which is why their sandwiches are so good. I had lox added a sandwich and it's not worth it. The addition is nearly...

This place is a San Clemente favorite with all the locals stopping by. And I know why, they probably make the Best Bagel in California!! 5 Stars!!
Yes, I did state their bagel is probably the best. When the other staples have gone a bit too commercial and their ingredients have slipped a bit, these guys have seemed to keep their bagel shell crisp and core tender. Maybe they import New York water. Whatever the magic, I challenge them to keep up the focus on doing it right.
What could use some improvement on is their breakfast offerings. The eggs were a bit average, average luncheon offerings and that is where the overall score slips. So I suggest you go in and grab those bagels fresh and do what you need to with them.
If they went with a more farm to table approach, their client line would go around the block! Hopefully someone is reading this.
I’m coming back again for sure. They are on to something, and I’m going to share their bagel magic...
Read moreMy recent experience at Bagel Shack in San Clemente left much to be desired, especially considering the consistently positive encounters I've had at their other location (Mission Viejo). Unfortunately, my visit for a special occasion turned into a series of disappointments.
First and foremost, our large order, intended for the bridal party on our wedding morning, was far from satisfactory. We ordered bagel sandwiches, complete with eggs and meat, but upon opening the bags, we found only plain bagels with cream cheese. This oversight was frustrating as we wanted everyone in our bridal party to have a hearty breakfast.
To compound the issue, all of the large chai drinks were visibly HALF empty. (see picture)
Considering the hefty price tag of $90 for the entire order, the incomplete bagel selections and inadequately filled chai cups were frustrating.
We will likely not return to this location. We are still shocked by this considering how exceptional the MV...
