Lucky Dog Gelato — Restaurant in San Clemente

I'm local and thought we'd take the family here for something nice. Our family includes a 1.5 year old. Honestly, it is not the right age for this place because the store decor is not designed to be kid-friendly.

There was a long line, and when there is a line, it wraps around next to three flip signs and the bottom one is hung below the waist. Well, I put my my wiggly son down to let him walk around and to see what we wanted and the toddler was pointing at the sign. I don't know, he may have touched it, but if there is something is easily in reach of a toddler, thats what they do. Anyway, someone yelled at us that the signs are expensive to not go near it... in a tone that was implying that we were bad parents. Maybe it was the owner and that was the intention. What's odd is how low its hung in an ice-cream store - it's poor design given that kids go in and teenagers lean against everything. I'm sure it gives their workers anxiety.

Perhaps try just simply moving the bottom sign somewhere else? If there is high anxiety that it's going to be broken, why not protect it? Seems like a simple solution.

Wont be coming back. Weve gone two times because my kids have dairy allergies snd they have vegan options. The two times a young girl was working and incredibly sweet. We brought friends today and boy was I embarrassed. I never write reviews but feel compelled to. I have TWO kids my son wanted to try two flavors he never had. I also have a daughter who wanted to try ONE flavor. The owners are incredibly rude for having a business youd think u wanna keep Customers, but from the looks of these reviews they argue with anyone who post something negative. The male owner literally was like no more samples after i asked if my daughter could try ONE, he wasnt polite about it at all. I also suffer from severe long covid and brain fog so sadly i threw the sample spoons out without thinking bc well im human and sick. They were pissed they had to give me a spoon for the cup my girl got. I see here its bc of the environment, sure i get that but i have severe brain fog and human, damn ruined my night i will never come back ill stick with Handels in san juan. We sat outside the store for 10 minutes waiting for it to open at 12:00. The doors opened. We got out of the car and walked to the ice cream shop. The lady came out of the store carrying chairs so we stood and waited for her. She did not say anything to us not. Good morning, I'm sorry I just have to put the furniture out nothing. Then my husband walked into the store and the lady made a face at my husband because she was frustrated that he had walked into the store and she was trying to bring the furniture out which should have been out before 12:00 because the store opened for business at 12:00. So we left the lady and it may even be the owner. Is it very rude? No customer service whatsoever. I will never return to the store because not only no customer service.
