This review places me squarely on the āglass half fullā optimist bench.
Bay Park Coffee is another neighborhood coffee spot where locals congregate over conversations and caffeine. At Bay Park I tip my hat to the supporting cast and wonder about the potential.
The cappuccino is served in a paper cup, and the presentation conveyed all the labor required to press a button. If youāve read my reviews you will certainly understand my frustrations at this point. I appreciate you for that.
However, much like Trevor Hoffman or Rollie Fingers (I still have his baseball card) Bay Park is all about the closers.
Firstly, the almond croissant was one of the best Iāve experienced in the US. Hear me out. A good friend of mine refers to me as the āFrancofileā based largely on my penchant for this pastry. Light, Fluffy, and just the right amount of almond.
The coffee roaster deserves equal praise. Once I delved past the haphazard milk foam the coffee flavor was spot on. Nutty, rich, and bold. The iced Americano, served black, was one of the best Iāve had.
Bay Park Coffee has virtually all the necessary ingredients to stand out as a coffee house. Any well trained baristas out there, send a resume over.
If you find yourself in Bay Park, check them out and weight in. As it is the 4th of July, cast your vote. I am eager to see what becomes of this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAt this point, we like to say weāre regulars at Bay Park Coffee - so much so that we donāt have any photos of coffee anymore because we drink it all the time š¤£. I canāt quite count how many times weāve been here, but we love love this local coffee shop. It has become our go-to and absolutely favorite. We typically take our dog for a walk at Mission Bay in the morning and then grab our coffees (vanilla almond milk latte and vanilla latte with regular milk) and our croissant sandwiches with bacon/ham egg and cheese. They get their croissants from a local bakery, and it is always fresh and perfectly flaky. Service is always 6/5. The baristas always seem to be so happy there, and they make everyone feel like a regular. Thatās when you know when a coffee shop doesnāt feel like a regular coffee shop - it feels cozy, familiarā¦and the added bonus..great coffee! They are also family-friendly and dog-friendly (they always ask if your dog wants a treat). They also have artwork around the cafe supporting local artists - local business supporting other local businesses. Obsessed with this place! ā¤ļøšš«¶š½ Canāt say enough...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBest shot of espresso I've ever had. I've tried as much espresso as possible throughout San Diego county (and abroad), and this was better than all other competition by a significant margin.
I recognize espresso isn't always a selling point, though. I also grabbed an iced white "coconut crƩme" tea and that, too, was made as well as a white tea could possibly be. It was fragrant, light, and steeped perfectly.
Did I mention the cafƩ is inexpensive and the baristas were a delight?
Breezy interior with modest, rustic decoration and simple benches with ample electrical outlets made for a solid work spot. It's also near a standard Mexican joint, tasty (but pricy) food truck specializing in burgers, and a Harland brewing company, among other neighborhood services.
Alright, I'm procrastinating. I have work I need to do. I don't usually write these, but I needed to throw some compliments around. Very impressive little spot; I'm only disappointed it's so out of my way. 10/10...
