I really like CFG. Food is consistently well made, and the taste has been the same for me. I wish there was one in my new neck of the woods. This one was just on-my-way to some where else. Out of the way for frequent visits.
That said, the food was good. 8.7/10
Seasoned well. The fishes I got were fresh.
The only 2 issues I have are: The kale slaw is almost always too dry. They need to add more slaw sauce. The squash. I will never like or understand why they switched grilled long side sliced to diced and steamed and soggy. I get it because they don't offer much better veggies as sides that you don't have to pay extra for. Like the asparagus. Oh, and one more small issue. Every time I get the asparagus, the middle to the end of the stalks are always hard. They need to cut those ends off.
The service was great 9/10
I think the on-site manager needed up taking my order. He was very pleasant and helpful. He did not have an attitude like so many of them managers in establishments do these days.
-/10. I ordered to go ao I don't have much to say about the "atmosphere.." Resturant looked clean from where I ordered. No weird smells.
10/10 - The other thing I noticed here is that they don't do the passive-aggressive tipping here. It's so refreshing to go to a restaurant, place an order to go, and pay without the staff flipping a tablet asking you to tip on a picked up order.
I'm not tipping on orders I pick up and take out of the restaurant. . Get somebody...
Read moreMy experience at California Fish Grill left me impressed, particularly with their Cajun Fish tacos. Despite the bustling atmosphere, the customer service was commendable. Although I opted for a to-go order, I decided to dine in, which required a brief trip to the counter to collect my meal. However, any minor inconvenience was quickly overshadowed by the delectable flavors awaiting me.
The Cajun Fish tacos were a true standout. The fish was expertly seasoned, boasting a perfect balance of spices that tantalized my taste buds with each bite. Accompanied by flavorful side sauces – the Verde and tartar – the tacos offered a delightful combination of tanginess and creaminess that complemented the fish beautifully.
One unexpected highlight was the tomatoes, which were remarkably fresh and almost crunchy, adding a refreshing contrast to the tacos. However, the kaleslaw fell slightly short of expectations. While it provided a decent accompaniment, I couldn't help but feel that it lacked a bit of dressing. After all, kale could certainly benefit from a bit of extra flavor!
Overall, my dining experience at California Fish Grill was delightful. The exceptional flavors of the Cajun Fish tacos left me eager to return and explore more of their menu offerings. With such high-quality fare and attentive service, I have no doubt that I'll be back to sample more of their tantalizing tacos in the...
Read moreWe saw this place on the way to the freeway. First of all the food is good. We ordered the catfish, the calamari and the battered fish tacos. They all tasted good and fresh. I also got a strawberry min drink which is good. They have a weird soda selection but they are all good I tried them all. Second the staff working are very nice. Third the facility is clean. The tables are clean and the bathroom is clean. Lastly the location is close to the freeway. Very convenient.
11/11/22 Update from my last review we tried different items on the menu. I brought my family along with me this time but I was not expecting this much of a difference. First I reordered the calamari and battered fish tacos. The fish tacos are good as always but the calamari is tough like rubber. I tried the grilled salmon salad and that too is tough and rubbery. I got some chicken tenders for the kids that were good with no issues. Battered fish and chips are good and the clam chowder is also good. My experience the second time was ok. They were a lot different from l visited. Sorry I had to lower my review from a 5 ⭐ down to a 4 ⭐. I would still recommend because food...
