Fatboy's Deli & Spirits — Restaurant in San Diego

There are so many other options in San Diego to get to much higher quality sandwiches and service.

We both got the Fatboy's Special. Took them nearly 30 min to make both sandwiches. Neither were toasted. No extras or substitutions added. And they weren't significantly busy.

Sandwiches were thick... But 90% was lettuce and tomato. Very little meat, especially for supposedly having 2 or 3 different meats on it. There was so little meat we couldn't even tell if there were different meats on there because the thin layer of them all blended together. For a moment we each thought they might have even forgotten to add any meat. And the mayo and mustard were placed on the edge around the crust and no where else.

It all blended together into one bland taste.

Quality of ingredients was meh. Service seemed like they just don't care or you're in their way.

Again... There are so many other high quality sandwich shops in San Diego to choose from and this place doesn't stack up against the...

On Saturday after my son’s basketball we wanted a good sandwich and decided to check out this spot. Heard about it from a few friends and said what the heck.Drove over from Scripps Ranch in the rain and when we got there, location was a little tough to find parking but no big deal. Took about 15 mins, finally made it to the store. We stand in line one group of two people are ordering. 20 mins later my son and I walked out after being ignored with no sandwich. I wanted to try the meatball sub, lady said I have enough for 2 more subs as the people in front or us ordered the last two. This is around 1pm and they are already running out. Between that, parking, my son and I completely being ignored, lack of customer service and the commute I figured I better chop up the hour I wasted to try this establishment...

I have gone here many times before, but yesterday I had to ask them if my sandwich was ready (a lot of people received theirs already). They finally made mine and let’s be honest; there are five people working in the store not including the deli and it was slow. It does not take that long to make a sandwich with five lazy people in one deli. However, they broke my trust because he gave my sandwich to someone else and laughed about it. Then the manager told me he would make me another sandwich, but he was so greedy that he short changed me. I didn’t realize it until after I left. So not only did they waste my time, but they also kept some of my money. I guess that’s what I get for being a minority, so as usual beware if you are black.
