Habit Burger never disappoints! Generous portions and a variety of tasty choices make this carry out burger joint a must have on the So Cal who's who of foodie fun. Tonight, the Santa Barbara Cobb salad delighted my palate with the perfectly grilled chicken and crispy bacon with egg and cheese crumbles and avocado spread over the top. Pricier than the original burger and spicy green beans I sometimes get, but in my mind, a healthier alternative. The line is always exceptionally long at Habit Burger, signifying a stellar food product and/or unique service. Tonight I discovered they added automated screens for convenient ordering. The line moved tremendously quicker, no fault to the staff, but I can definitely see how customizing the already customized food can slow the process, so kudos for the innovation. I just hope no one lost their job because of the new ordering system...my food was still served fresh and the counter attendant had a smile on her face as she delivered my food. I’ve come into this location twice, and both experiences I had to wait longer than expected. The first time, they told me “We’ll call out your order when it’s ready.” No one called it when the bag was placed at handoff and it sat there for about five minutes untouched before I had to go up again and reconfirm I had an order.

The send time makes me not want to show up again. Within a weeks time of my last order, I called in the order again. And walked in and let someone ahead of me in line. They placed their order and sat down while I said I had an order over the phone. The employee said it’ll be one second for that order. I don’t take my eyes off of the one bag they had up. And it was untouched for ten minutes while the order ahead of me got their placed in order BEFORE ME. After I called it in 10 minutes before! The POS checks the bag AGAIN and hands out my food saying “Have a nice day”.

I placed an order for curbside pickup before I left home. It was a 12 minute drive to the restaurant. When I got there, I waited 20 minutes for them to bring my food out. I then went inside to ask about it. They hadn't even started making my order, but confirmed that they would start working on it "now". That was fifteen minutes ago as I'm typing this. This is unacceptable.

I went back in to ask if my order was ready or for a refund if it wasn't. Turns out, it was ready and they just refused to bring my curbside pickup order outside and very smugly insisted that they called my name. If the receipt stapled to the side of the bag hadn't said "CURB SIDE" in large all-caps at the top right below my name, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt. Instead, their refusal to bring my order outside seems like a deliberate and spiteful retaliation. And yes, the food was...
