We've been to Hanna's a few times and typically the food is delightful and the service is very attentive & friendly. Our most recent visit however turned out to be a less favorable experience and not deserving of the recommendations that we suggested to friends. While I expect that some kitchens prepare some of their ingredients ahead of time to save time during the dinner rush, I don't feel that certain dishes should be just assembled like placing a boiled and underseasoned piece of chicken under a bed of sauce that had been cooked separatly and selling it as chicken tagine. That's not how good chicken tagine is prepared. What made the dish worse was the stale and dried out cous cous that accompanied it. My wife's salmon & pasta dish was overcooked and tasted like it had also pre-cooked. We didn't complain to the server about the food as he was doing a fine job juggling between a party of twenty and a few other tables, honestly we felt bad for him as the large party appeared to be a lot to handle. We've always enjoyed Hanna's eclectic menu options and the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant but it's a shame that the kitchen has decided to cut corners to use subpar ingredients and pre-cook dishes. Anyone else have a...
Read moreHanna's is one of these places that can't really be overrated; I can rate all meals I've had there individually and they'll all get a 4 or a 5. The food has a home-made feel but is prepared with great professionalism with notable "layers of taste" that take a pro to achieve. One of my favorite features of this restaurant is that they have internationally themed food, so one can taste different cuisines at every visit and never get bored with the constantly evolving menu. They still tend to have some main-staples and the desserts are unique and enjoyable with the Almond Cake being my top choice. I also like the fact that the chef uses spices outside of the standard ones and in unusual ways, yet without them overpowering the dishes they're used in. Soups and stews are often available and are as good as can be and never over-seasoned, which seems to be a trend in most restaurants. Good choice of wines with pleasantly surprising picks (South African, etc.). A solid entry in my...
Read moreWhat a fabulous find. I was having dinner with my cousin and she said this was her favorite restaurant. But wait she had only bee here once and fell in love with the menu and the staff and of course the food. Parking in this district is hard, so to walk a couple blocks, unless you are a parking karma guru, is the norm. The waiter, and drink person was so polite and convivial. It was like talking to an old friend. When the menu arrived, I immediately spotted my dinner dishes dishes. Coconut shrimp, followed by Lamb Kebab with cherry rice. YAHOO! A place with cherry rice gets my attention! and with coconut shrimp, a forever favorite of mine, it was wonderful Big Fat Collosal Shrimp with a lovely marmalade / jam and mmm mmmm mmmm. Then the lamb and cherry rice. I just want to come back and do it again! Oh no, I live over 400 miles away! Oh Yes, I...
