This place is convenient, consistent and tasty. Yet today it just rubbed me the wrong way.
I was already thinking about how much inflation had hit the sandwich industry as I'm paying over $10 for a half sandwich, when the credit card machine suggests various tipping amounts. Then, the guy at the register makes extra effort to point it out. So, it's suddenly on me to add a couple extra dollars for the four people doing whatever behind the counter.
When did it become the customer's job to pay employees at a sandwich counter? My job is to buy a sandwich... tell them what to put on it and pay. The owner's job is to pay employees. Usually, a gratuity is for extra service or going above, but how does an hourly sandwich person even do that? Make the sandwich just a little faster? And the guy at the register, what did he do? He takes the money. I don't even like him or what he's doing, especially if he does it extra well.
Nope, I tip my hair stylist, my bartender, my server. In all of these cases, I'm sitting down and they are serving me. I'm not in a line, being shuffled through and talking over a glass partition.
Oh and the excuse that they are in school, or whatever... Go become a hair stylist, bartender or server like the rest of us...
Read moreCame into the store when it was 20 minutes before closing and its understandable the staff might be winding down, but as we walk in the young girl at the front didn't say a word to us or even make eye contact. We waited to make our order and she just kept cleaning the counter as if we didn't exist. It was a very unwelcoming feeling and really felt like we made a mistake stoping for a sandwich. When she finally acknowledged us one of her co workers in the back came up to her and whispered something in her ear. She than let us know that the grill was closed and they were closing up so there wouldn't be too many options for ordering. I looked at my watch to see we still had ten minutes before closing, unfortunately looking at the staff they didn't seem very happy to help us and to be honest not sure if I would trust them to make a sandwich at this point so we left. I wish they had a sign up that let the customers know that the options on the menu are limited ten minutes before closing. I went back inside and asked for a business card but was ignored, so I looked around and found one in the front. I was originally going to just send the general manager an email but that last encounter led me to post on here. Very...
Read moreA friend of mine referred me to this place many weeks ago, and I finally decided to give it a shot today. I've been to many sub shops in the last few years, and Jersey Mike's subs has to be my favorite sub shop as of today. The subs are fresh and delicious, at best! My friends and I came in at noon where the line was long and the shop was crowded, and our order was quick and ready in just a few minutes. Although Jersey Mike's is a little pricey compared to other sub shops and franchises, they're definitely worth the money! The Turkey and Provolone was AMAZING; my friends also had the Chicken Parmesan and (being a picky eater) they highly approve of this place. We drove all the way from North County to visit this place, and now we'll do so more often! We can't wait to have a location open up...
