L&L Hawaiian Barbecue — Restaurant in San Diego

I never leave reviews. But my only experience here was pretty awful.

The food is affordable and tastes okay for the price. The food isn't amazing but worth the 6 or 7 dollars.

However their service is appalling! I went in to order the garlic chicken and was told they didn't have any. So I settled on a chicken Katsu instead and a order of the donut holes. After I paid for it and already sat at a table the teller called me over to tell me that they also did not have any of the donut holes... They Literally Did not have 2/3 things I ordered. And they waited until after I ordered it to let me know.

To top it off When I arrived there. There was no one in line and only one table full of people who already had their food. After we went though the fiasco of refunding the money for the donuts they didn't have there was a line or around 5 people.

After about 10 more minutes of waiting for my food I noticed that they were calling out orders for everyone that came 5 minutes after I did... 20 minutes after arrival to a practically empty restaurant did I finally get my food...

I don’t like this location. I worked for L&L for a year or so in east county. Being in the mood for Hawaiian food and not wanting to drive to where i used to work, has lead me to eat from here on various occasions. Every time worse and more disappointing than the last. The service is horrible. Usually one person taking orders and making food. While others run around goofing off. Portions vary you never get the same amount of food. Sometimes they give you a heaping serving enough for a small giant. And other times they give you the burnt ends of beef left over from lunch shift. Yesterday was no different of an experience. I ordered a seafood combo, food tasted off but figured they just didn’t make it right and put way to much white pepper. But after spending the night hugging the toilet seat, I knew it was far worse than white pepper mismanagement. Needless to say safe yourself the trouble, and a nauseating night next to your college hood best friend, and skip out...

My girlfriend and I visited this location on 11/23/2020 at about 6:30 pm We ordered two meals with vegetables to replace the rice. We received the meals and noticed that my meal had rice, i returned the meal and asked the girl on the counter about the mistake she took the bag and informed the cook about the mistake, the cook did not have a very happy look. I was expecting a few minute's delay. After approximately 15 to 20 min no meal, I approached the counter and before I could say anything the cook yelled with an angy voice, I'M WORKING ON IT!!! I stood back and waited a few more minutes i then realized that the delay was done on purpose. So I got my money back. During this difficult time no customer deserves this type of behavior. If you don't enjoy your job please don't take it out on the customers.

Needles to say do not recommend this L&L Hawaiian...
