It was an amazing surprise. My wife and I went there on recommendation My wife and I came to this place on recommendation. We wanted vegetarian but thought we might try vegan as well. I should stress that we both love our big piece of meat, but enjoy trying new things. Seriously! The best place we have eaten in the last few months!! We loved every single bite. The servers were friendly, the food hot and simply exquisite! I'd never have thought tofu can be so tasty. We had Tofu with coconut and Lucky Mongol - a veggy fillet served with sauce. We don't like brown rice, but this one was cooked to perfection. The salad accompanying both dishes was fresh and delicious; Absolute highlight the fresh herbs dressing accompanying it. We were curious about vegan cakes and asked for a piece of pandan cake and another of chocolate cake to go. Well... They aren't anything to write home about once you tried some truly delicious non-vegan desserts. We do recommend the chocolate one though, if anyone's out for something sweet. We would have given the place gazilion stars but are giving only 4 because all the food except for rice and water was really very sweet. We're trying to cut down on sugar and actually haven't been using it for a few months now at all, so the amount served was way to big. Anyway, we certaily are comming back on our next visit to San Diego.

LOVING HUT prepairs delicious vegan meals. You order from the counter and your meal is delivered to your table.* Phone orders, carryouts, and deliveries are available. The sparklingly clean North Park location is decorated mid-century modern, with a giant TV screen displaying beautiful videos of planet earth. There are comfortable tables and chairs. The menu is a mix of Asian and American entrees. I went Asian and ordered the Impossible Crispy Rolls and the Fabulous Mongolian. The deep-fried Crispy Rolls are wrapped in a paper thin crust and generously stuffed with vegetables and soy meat, served with a sweet, shredded, radish and carrot sauce. The Fabulous Mongolian is a stir-fry with soy beef, onions, peppers and bamboo. It is served with a brown (or white) rice ball. The appetizer and entree were both flavorful and filling. I completed my meal with Thai Iced Tea and a vegan, soft, Chocolate Chip cookie, covered with mini marshmallows. Parking is free. Bathrooms, located on the right, down the hallway, are ADA compatible and require a code, supplied at the order counter. *There are 200 individually owned and operated Loving Hut eateries, located in 35 countries. The vegan chain began in Taiwan. (2008)

If you haven't tried Loving Hut in North Park, you are missing out! I went here today for the first time. I had been to the Mira Mesa Loving Hut but apparently they are not related. I ordered the Bean Gardein Burrito and opted for a side salad instead of fries. I also ordered the strawberry cheesecake. While I waited for my order, I tried their new Garlic Noodles and Pink Lemonade. They were both so delicious! The noodles were thick and the garlic flavor was intense without being overwhelming. The pink lemonade was sweet and satisfying. When I got home, I dove right in! The burrito is incredibly yummy - the Gardein "beef" has a sweet sauce on it that gives the burrito a delicious, slightly Asian twist. The strawberry cheesecake is TO DIE FOR! It is sweet and dense and absolutely amazing. Oh, and VEGAN! Everything is vegan! Their other dessert options are carrot cake and an incredibly decadent looking chocolate mousse cake. I will try both at a later date. To say I am elated is an understatement. The food is delicious and the dessert........ lawdy! You absolutely must try it. Even if you are not vegan. ♡

I’m so SAD!!!! Just not the same anymore after the pandemic closure ☹️

1). service is waaay impersonal. If you’re dining in, you order your food at the counter and then sit or you can order and pay from your phone. No ones comes to check on you after you get your food. So no refills on your water. I was told it’s due to them being short staffed but as I sat and dined I noticed the restaurant was not packed and the 2 female employees were just sitting at the front counter chit chatting. They were super nice but it was annoying going the counter for sauce, napkins, straw, water, etc. when they could have easily just walked around and checked- the usually dine service Loving Hut offered. They were still super nice though.

2). The food just didn’t taste the same anymore. Lower quality, smaller portions and just looks thrown on the plate. Menu changed too and a lot of the popular items are no longer available.

The love was defiantly missing from everything about my dine in experience and I am heart broken. They’ve lost that magic that used to make them so special. The ambiance inside just felt like you were eating at a chain. It was HOT, didn’t feel like the AC was on. The floors were super sticky.

UPDATE response to business I get it the pandemic hit every business hard. I was pointing out that you are paying 2 employees to sit at the counter and chit chat when you could be using them to provide the same amazing sit down dine in experience you have in the past. Adding in no AC during summer really makes your guests not want to dine in. It felt like a lot of...

Highly recommended, even if you are not vegetarian or vegan you will like it.

My wife and I have been going here since they've opened and we've order the same dish every time, because it is so good, and we are creatures of habit.

The Lucky Chow Mein is awesome, the noodles are not soft and mushy like normal chow mein noodles, they have an al dente snap to them, which pairs excellently with the sauce and the vegetables.

We also get the Spicy Cha Cha, which isn't really all the spicy, but is made with unique battered and fried Soy Shrimp. I'm not a huge fried real shrimp guy, but these taste great.

Portion sizes are huge, and with it only be $1 more to get the larger size you can take the leftovers home for a second meal.

Prices are extremely reasonable. Most of the entrees are in the $5-8 range and can easily be shared between two people especially if you get the larger size. Drinks are around $2-4 and they are handmade smoothies, cooler drinks and fresh juices.

As mentioned in other reviews there is a lot of Supreme Master "propaganda" which you can tune out if you'd like. I have to give them credit for being up-front about their mission statement rather than sneaky about it.

The restaurant is crazy clean inside. I feel like I could probably eat off the floor and not get ill. I think the extreme white inside has something to do with it.

My only suggestion would be that they stay open later -- they close at 9pm and are also closed on Sundays. My wife and I always seem to get there 15 minutes before closing, and they are very...

Updated to add: The lack of communication was from the server as I would've been satisfied enough to be offered something different when what I given/ordered was no longer matching what was on the menu. Or had I been offered a high chair for my toddler. When a small business is unable to take constructive criticism, they fail to grow to their full potential.

I haven't been back since they changed anything. And I felt ripped off...they let me order the Coco Tofu but when it arrived it had no coconut or peanuts. It was totally covered in too much sauce and overly salted. I wish they'd told me so I can try something else. For $16 it felt like a big waste. The rice was too much of it, and old and completely clumped together, and my salad was wilted and had zero crunch. I was really disappointed. The service was whatever. No one greeted us or checked on us while we ate that I recall. Maybe I didnt notice. And it was very empty. (Monday night) so it wasn't due to being busy. I'm sad I took the day off cooking to overpay for salty terrible food. They give you a free treat if you show them your good review so I know why they kept their good ratings from the old owners. I wish I had complained and gotten something else, but my husband's meal was also a tiny sandwich and a plate full of fries. Not at all what we used to eat here. For $16/17 each plate I left knowing there's no way I'm coming back.

Also no kids menu. Or...
