Date of visit: 9/10/2016

Musashiya is located inside Mitsuwa. The display case shows the different foods you can order and there's a small menu behind the cashier that lists their drinks and small plates to order. Once you place your order at the counter, you are given a number on a receipt and wait for your number to be called. This is definitely a casual restaurant, so do not expect sit down restaurant service here.

The dining area is shared with Santouka and has a cafeteria feel to it. This is a definitely a place for a quick bite to eat, not someplace to sit and hang out. It is definitely a convenient place to get food, especially if you're grocery shopping and just want something quick.

Shrimp Tempura Udon. This udon was extremely mediocre. It was barely a step above the refrigerated packets you can get. Beyond the noodles and broth, they only added some green onions and shrimp tempura on the side. I was definitely not impressed, but since my stomach was upset, I didn't want anything too complicated, and this served its purpose.

The shrimp tempura was a little too oily for me, so I traded with Scotty for her tea egg from Santouka. The tea egg actually tasted really good with the udon broth.

Overall, I'll probably never order from Musashiya again - it was really expensive for what I got. The quality of food from Santouka is way better for the price and since it's only 10 steps away, it doesn't make sense to order from Musashiya unless I'm really...

I love going to this grocery store… But I don’t think that this restaurant is up to par with other restaurants in the area. I went to both of Mitsuwa’s restaurants and got a aburi chasiu bowl from the other establishment - YUM!

From Musashiya, I ordered the Mini-Katsu Don bowl, and was disappointed. All of the breading fell off the meat - all of it! It was gross and nearly inedible. Basically what I got was a boiled chicken rice bowl topped with egg/breading clumps

Breading should not completely fall off, this is a sign of poor food handling &/or chef skills - both pretty important in a restaurant setting.

I was going to say something but the host didn’t really give off hospitable vibes from the get-go.

For example, When I got my food, I noticed there was no spoon for the included miso (one positive thing about the katsu don is that it comes with Miso soup), I asked the host if I may have a spoon and they told me people usually drink from the cup and was seemingly-reluctant to grab a spoon for my meal… I may be reading into it. But I felt like I was a burden to the staff, asking for a spoon when served a soup.

Rather than alerting the staff about my observations, I simply will not go there anymore.

The value perhaps would have been amazing if the Katsu Don was...

Last week 7/19/2024, was the worst staff and service, I have ever experienced. I will not definitely come back and also advise customers to think twice going to this place unless they hire a mature , considerate staff. That night bunch of kids working and obviously, could care less. It was only 6:30pm, they close at 8pm, but they stopped taking order because they run out of rice. An Asian Japanese restaurant running out of rice. The kids messed up my order and offered to refund me. Ok, I was refunded but today I checked my charge on my account, they reversed the charge. Not only they have a terrible service, they are even robbing their customers! SHAME ON YOU. If you promise to refund due to bad service and in correct order, don't try to take back the charge! Keep giving this kind of service, and I know you will not be around any longer for business due to your bad business practice and...

Decided to satisfy our Japanese cravings at Musashiya while shopping some Japanese snack at Mitsuwa Marketplace Tempura shrimp and veg were crispy and fresh. It’s light too and tastes really good. I was just expecting more with the price we paid versus the size of the shrimp especially just coming back from Japan vacation. Inflation right? Surprised the Gyudon having glass noodles added. I might be wrong but might be used as meal extender? I’m just guessing here. The sliced meat was tender, onions not too overcooked and the sweet and savory sauce is just the right amount of sweetness. I wish they have the option of ordering poached egg that goes with the meal. They offer military discount which is great. Staff were friendly. Will comeback and try their other dishes and hoping will be way better.

I ordered 3 orders of Cold Zaru soba from Musashiya restaurant in Mitsuwa Market. All three Zaru soba didn't come with shredded daikon radish. I requested to counter person for it. The young man at the counter asked the cook for the shredded daikon radish. Katherine from the kitchen was upset that I asked for the shredded daikon radish to go with part of the Zaru soba sauce. She insisted that I have to pay 50 cents extra for each order. Which I did.. It was a very unpleasant experience. Zaru soba tasted like a chunk of cheap buckwheat noodles with unbalanced sauce.
