Starting with the best part: The sauces and foods at Nishiki Ramen are amazing. I tried 2 bowls while there: The Vegetarian Curry Bowl and the Chicken Bowl. The Curry Sauce Nishiki is one of the best I have tasted anywhere, and I have tasted a lot in Southern CA. I loved the broth in my chicken ramen before the world's hottest Death Sauce add-in. The death sauce chile-oil add-in has strong tastes of the ghost chile so if you love the smoky flavor of a ghost chile you will like the death sauce add-in in your broth though I will say it does overpower the original taste of the broth, I recommend tasting your broth before and after. The Okonomi sauce that comes with the chicken katsu appetizer might be one of the best condiments in San Diego. I recommend the sweet, tangy, gingery, Okonomi experience to anyone willing to try it. Regarding service, while the staff were professional, I did not get many smiles nor a feeling I was welcomed at the restaurant, which was disappointing. Kenny was our server, and he was both sweet and accommodating as I got my ramen with no noodles and extra cabbage. CULINARY PRO TIP: One if my relatives ordered a fish cake in her chicken Ramen and the fish cake changed the flavor of the broth to something unenjoyable, we ended up ordering her a Chicken Curry Ramen instead, a pro tip being, order some add-ins on the side as they will change the taste of your dish. My family and I plan on eating here again, and I think you will enjoy your experience as well if you like Japanese ramen. The little plastic cup is the Death Sauce in my photos.

The restaurant is easily seen from University Avenue, but the entrance is easily passed, it looks like the exit/entrance to the patio, not the restaurant. Once you walk through the door you are invited into an open area with a few tables that have open views to the street, patio, and the kitchen! The inside is sparsely decorated, and has top 40 contemporary music, giving you more the vibe of a dance club. You order at the front and take a number to your table. The menu is relatively small, different from their other restaurant. I had the Red Blow, a very spicy miso ramen with pork, delicious but dangerous. I'm no stranger to spice, but I had to pause for a sec just to let my lips cool off. For those that love spicy, you can add a ghost pepper packet for a small additional cost, I didn't need it! There isn't a large selection of appetizers, nothing caught my eye, so I bypassed trying one. I had a mango tea, and refilled with a peach tea, delicious. Everything we saw vibe out of the kitchen looked amazing, and smelled wonderful.. Thervice is a little slow and the workers appear to be a little reserved, not as outgoing as I like, but I love to interact with people. The food came out fast, hot and beautifully presented. Another great Ramen restaurant in Hillcrest. The best part was the taste and quality of the noodle itself, I'll definitely be back!

I’ve been coming since last July when it was grand opened but today was the first time I asked for my money back. The reason being is that they don’t warm up their meat on the ramen. When I saw the meat was at best cool, I asked for an explanation and was told that’s how it’s always been. That’s not true. I have a picture of the last time I ordered #4 and the meat was actually warm to fresh. What I got today was some cool meat they took from the refrigerator and put it on my ramen, saying the broth will warm it up. i don’t have time for that, it could be 5 minutes before it’s warm to tasting well.It feels like they cut corners from a year ago. I haven’t asked for money before eating anything before but today was the exception. If they are serving just meat from the refrigerator on ramen, I’m done eating here. I’m disappointed and I use to come here a lot.

Been going to Nishiki for years since there first location opened in KM. I came back to this location after a good 3 years or so and needless to say it was business as usual. The smoke bomb black, albeit like 4 dollars more now, was just as good as I remembered it.

What wasn't okay was our waitress. When our food was brought, she settled my bowl down in the most haphazard awkward way she almost spilled the entire bowl on my leg. It ended up spilling all over my shoe.

Now I understand accidents happen, but they way she was holding that bowl was inexcusable. You're dealing with very hot and greasy food, you need to actually HOLD IT. Seriously it was like, wtf? Ive eaten so much ramen and never had anyone bring my a bowl like that.

My shoes arent million dollar nikes but theyre fairly new and nice canvas boots. And now, they're ruined because I couldnt get the grease stains out, even after immediately going home and cleaning it. I don't go to eat out to have my food spilled on me. It wasn't even busy. Take your time and pay attention to what you're doing.

She ended up giving us 2 free sodas and removed the MANDATORY gratuity fee of 15% (gee thanks) and that was it. If it were me, I would've comped the bowl of ramen. Not to mention her fingers dipped into the broth and she still served me the same bowl.

Please learn how to engage with customers during a situation like this. She just didn't handle herself well at all. Saying, "I know this isnt going to change anything" then handing me a free soda like im supposed to be happy is just... no.

So yes, I'm mad I got my $80 dollar shoes ruined here after dropping $40 on ramen. Please train your servers to handle the food in a...

Don't go to this place I had a terrible experience there my wife, daughter and I when there to enjoy a meal after we order and pay. we sat to wait for our Ramen. 20 minutes later only my daughter's plate was serve, we thought the rest of our order was coming right after, however 10 more minutes pass and yet we were waiting. We notice that other people that order way after we did , were getting their orders so I went to ask the waitress about the delay, she had no clue about the situation.she asked the other waiters finally they figured out that they had give the rest of my order to an order table.the waitress then told me they will fullfil my order Shortly.15 more minutes pass and an other attender came and told me again that our food was coming soon.15 more minutes pass, about 4 people that ordered way after us had already finished their meals, I also noticed that they had mixed an other order in the table next to us. Holding my self back to go off on the attendent in the register I ask for a refund of the rest of my order, which apparently the guy at the register just lie to me in my face imputing some numbers in the register and gave me a receipt of 30dollars. I wrongly trusted this guys, two day after the incident when I checked my bank account I noticed that they did not gave me any refound so I payed 75dollars for one plate of ramen and a soda. People working at this place are incompetent, disrespectful and even worse then that dishonest go there at your own risk you...
