We spent 2025 spring break in San Diego. On our last night we wanted pizza so our party of 5 stopped by Tavola Nostra hoping to get a table on a Saturday night at 8pm. There was a large round table open and we were seated immediately. Such a wonderful cozy atmosphere inside at a big rustic circle table. Outside would have been just as pleasant had it not been a little windy that night. The heaters looked like they would have kept us warm. The menu was perfect for sharing food among the 5 of us. We got the Arancini and Sicilian mixed salad. Both came out quickly and we were informed the food would arrive when each item was ready. The salad was fresh and dressing was well balanced between sweet and sour. The Arancini were as large as baseballs, 3 of them, with a wonderful flavorful tomato sauce. My sister-in-law lived in Italy for a while and said they were amazing. We got the Mama’s cheese classica to appease our 9 yr old picky eater. I loved it with the slightly chewy crust and delicious sauce. Others at our table got the Saro classica and magherita pinsa romano. The Saro brought a nice heat for our spice loving family members. We only ordered a cappuccino for beverages and it was reported to be good. We ended our visit with the most delicious desserts! Chocolate mousse cake, tiramisu and Italian sundae were a big hit among our dessert aficionados. Unfortunately I can’t remember our servers name but he was delightful! Very attentive to our table and friendly as he engaged with us throughout our meal. He asked kind questions and made us feel right at home. Tried this place for the first time and boy am I mad I didn’t try it before. Couldn’t believe I’ve been missing out. This place was everything I expect to make an enjoyable experience, from service, ambiance, quality of food, everything was on point. We made reservations and showed up a bit early, but that was not a problem because the Owner made sure to seat us down right away and offered us drinks. Started off with the Sicilian meatballs and Ceaser salad. Then ordered the Marsala pasta and the Nostra Salsiccia Broccolini Pinsa. All was fresh and delicious. My husband said the salad was the best he has ever had and I agree with him. Meatballs were tasty with the right amount of seasoning and the perfect sauce. Pasta was cooked to perfection with a very delicious sauce with mushrooms. Overall, everything we ordered was delicious. They also have a good selection of wine and beers. The restaurant was nice and clean. I just loved, loved, loved it! I highly recommend you try this place if you have not done so already.
