I get the Carne Asada Fries at every mexican restaurant as a benchmark. This place is pretty good. The meat is good quality, long strips, well prepared, good amount of sour cream, guacamole, and other toppings. I would say top 5 in San Diego. Crema would be better, but that's getting nit-pickey. It cost about $16.50 after tax, which for the portion size is a little high. Castañeda's and Satulitas are still the champs by a wide margin. No complimentary chips or carrots, however the salsa bar is top notch. They have two "hot" offerings that are legitimately spicy. The creamy orange salsa is a good replacement for the traditional salsa roja or salsa de arbol. The yellow/orange habanero salsa has a good kick to it, and is beyond the spice tolerance of the average person. Combined the flavor of the cream sauce and the heat from the habanero are a winning combination.

The place is really good regularly. I'm writing this review solely for a specific worker at this location. I was helped by the patrons and the cooks before I was helped by the guy with glasses taking the orders since he was mainly focused on the drive through. I waited to place my order for 15 mins while inside the store which is my main gripe. This individual also did not give me any salsa in my to-go bag which has been a staple of the best Mexican restaurant and he is making this place look worse and worse. Place has really good food and usually great service. I just hope you don't get this specific worker. This place should also allow us to tip with card. I truly hope you don't deal with this single individual that ruins the great experience they provide otherwise.

Let me first commend the establishment for its cleanliness and pleasant atmosphere. The gentleman was patient when taking our order...due to the variety of menu options. He recommended items. I chose the Chicken Chimichanga and was totally satisfied!!! This is a must try.

I really appreciate how you take your time making my breakfast 🌯s and I dont mind waiting. I like when taco shops take their time making my food, it means my food is going to be fully cooked and done, but for all that time waiting in the drive-thru, there should be no excuse why you forget sour cream on my breakfast burrito. This happened to me twice already. And it only happens in the drive-thru. I'm starting to notice taco shops doing this. I have to start checking the inside of my burrito now before driving off because I keep getting charged for sour cream but there's NO SOUR CREAM in my burrito. I even tried to reword my sentence while ordering so they hear me say the words "with sour cream", but they still forgot to add it.. This taco shop is the only taco shop though, that I know of, on El Cajon Blvd that opens at 6am and I like that. The rest that are open near El Cajon Blvd makes burritos pretty sloppy. I go to Santa Ana's because their burritos are not sloppy. And who knows, maybe the cook just woke up, he has to open, he has to cook, and still have to serve the food, so maybe that's why he keeps forgetting, so I'll let it slide.. But once I see a pattern, I feel like I'm getting ripped off. I'm going to try again though :) I like their sausage breakfast burritos. I crave one...
