Thai Time North Park — Restaurant in San Diego

Alright, so, I dont do this often; the whole "Google Review" thing, but this is good (bad). It's Wednesday night, kinda ballin on a budget. Thai Time: Happy Hour all of the time. Beer and Curry, sounded perfect for a some-what fall night. Wait, is it Fall? I think so. Ok. Anyways. .. We head to Thai Time, walking distance. I love it. Stoked. Disclaimer: I'm vegetarian. Have been for 14 years. Cool; whatever.

We order a bucket of beer, Garlic Edamame, and a red curry with Mock-Duck. Bomb. Broth is a bit high in sodium but, fire. Vegetables cooked perfectly. Beers are crisp. Edamame's garlic flakes set a nice tone. Lighting is a 8/10. Service = on-point.

However, about 6 to 7 bites in, this mock-duck is different. Skin? Ok. Maybe modern textured-protein science has advanced(?). Kinda SUS. Long story short, after mentioning to the owner, they confirm they MIXED our meal with mock-duck and the real thing.

I get it, mistakes happen. But, damn. Sure, they replace the plate, however they don't even offer fresh rice. Just "nah, you get what you got." We get our check, no comp(s), which to any business owner would point as the right thing to do. Maybe I'm wrong, I'm not a business owner. Seems like common sense to me. But, No. Nothin'. Nada.

My friend was nice (and brave) enough to mention it and the owner blurts "We'll give you 50% off of the meal". Bruh, fr? Or shoot, maybe just forfeit the cost of the meal? Which I'll mentioned they charged us $5 more than the price advertised on the menu. But, nah, I ain't sayin' anything; idk. Anyhow, this experience sucked. It was great during the other time I've been. But I maybe probably won't be going back for awhile.

We stopped here after reading some of the previous reviews. OMG, they is cray cray crazy! It should be 0 stars! Firstly: Parking is horrible, the exhaust fan in the kitchen must be broken, because you inhale (more like choke) and swim in cooked spicy chilli air. We couldn't dine in due to the smokey chilli air. So, we ordered to go: Chicken Pad Thai - not spicy, Chicken Pad Thai - medium spicy level of 5, Vegetarian Green Curry - medium spicy level of 4, and Thai Time Duck. Secondly: Why ask the customers how spicy based on a level 1 to 10 if you're going to make it extra spicy choke level of 10 whole Thai chillies?! Come on, I eat Thai chilli pepper on the daily this was like killing your customer kind of cooking. If you're measuring the level based how many spoonfuls equal a thai chilli pepper, then please tell your customers. Thirdly: Pad Thai is not authentic, it smells and taste like it was drenched in ketchup. The duck was dry. The curry actually resembles authentic Thai cooking if the cook and hostess were on the same grading level when it came to the spiciness. On a good note... The rice was cooked...

Do not eat here. I’m a delivery driver and I witness the staff wipe her nose and grab the sprouts and put them on the plate. 🤮 You can’t even see the kitchen staff in the background with her bare hands grabbing stuff to put on plates. She didn’t wash hands after she wiped sweat off her face. She just wiped in onto her uniform. Then Wiped her runny nose = snot onto back of her hand. hI sat at the counter being told it would take 10 more minutes and it took 45 minutes for them to give me the order. I grew very frustrated and mentioned it one time why it’s been 45 minutes and she told me I could cancel the order and someone else will pick it up. She could care less about the delivery driver wait or the customers that ordered on DoorDash . They just care about tips so they ignored the order . I can’t believe how rude they are. I don’t know this pregnant woman working here is really awful bad attitude and completely let that to go orders pile up without bagging them because she was so busy with her tables.
