We were there for a watch party and placed in the back area. I don't think it would of been that bad ig the bar had planned ahead. The front area was taken up with another sport, and despite a large group in the back the back bar was not opened to serve beer and take food orders. Instead the people in the back had to go to the long line at the front with the other sports people and order food and drinks which took about 45 minutes. I am sure it really detracted sales. And they would of sold a lot more food and drink if they had at least provided waitress service to the back or opened the back bar. It really was not enjoyable because of this. Second thing is instead of having a a men's and women's bathroom. It had only 4 all inclusive stalls. And no urinals meaning that men that are used to taking a quick break are forced to wait in the stall line. I guess it levels the playing field. Or it's just a waist of time and space. We most likely won't be going back. Not to mention because of the bike lanes there...
Read moreI visited Fairplay last Saturday with a couple friends to watch the SDSU Aztecs basketball game. Right off the bat I knew that this place had great service. When we entered and sat down a staff member came to the table and recognized that one person was wearing an Aztecs jacket. She let us know that they'd be playing the game right next to our table and then took our drink and food orders promptly. I don't know if I've ever been to a sports bar that is so on their game like that. Usually you have to walk around and find the right screen or ask the staff to change the channel to the game you want to watch. We all ordered burgers and fries. The burger was a spin on a classic In-N-Out Double-Double, just a bit larger and slightly more gourmet. Needless to say it was delicious. Despite the Aztecs basketball game being a blowout, we had a great time at Fairplay and are very...
Read moreI went here for a San Diego Wave watch party. It was PACKED. Regardless of that, all of the staff was super attentive. There was a long haired dude in a Wave cap taking my order (I didn’t get his name). He took the time to get my food order right in a super busy and loud environment. He then came out after the rush and checked on my order to make sure it came out ok, it was a genuine personal touch I didn’t expect in a busy sports bar. Kitchen staff made a great meal and were very friendly at the pickup window as well. The busboy was also HUSTLING.
I worked in the service industry for 15 years. It’s nice to go to a sports bar that isn’t bro focused and has great service.
Also worth noting, beer list was great and food was enjoyable. I will get fried...
