let me tell you a tale. Newlyweds on pilgrimage from a strange land called “D.C.” arrived in the magical land of San Diego. Hungry from their long 5 hour voyage inside a strange metal bird, the elated couple began to become distressed as they navigated under beautiful skies and peculiarly perfect temperatures. The weary travelers finally arrived at their destination, yesenia’s Mexican food. The young king retired to his table as he waited for his beautiful bride to bring his food, made by magicians. Suddenly he heard a comforting laughter coming from his maiden from around the corner. Alas his beautiful wife appeared. But something was different from his glance upon his beloved. Normally he was encaptivated by her smile. But this time his gaze caught something different. His eyes widen and mouth opened as she Approached with a burrito bigger then he had ever seen in his land desolate of authentic Mexican food. The two shared a laugh at the size of the monster called the “el grande” stuffed with steak that seemed to be prepared in heaven, fries that reminded him of his original land “Pittsburgh” and spices and herbs that must have been grown by an angel in a garden overflowing gentle down to earth. The taste of the burrito transported him to a time when all was at peace in the world. Every flavor complimenting each other, he knew that he had found the perfect burrito. The king doubted his stomach’s ability to contain the entire burrito that was larger than his own gigantic Head and weighed more than his crown, but was pleasantly surprised as he took his last bite. Finally retiring to his castle he fell into a deep sleep with elustriaous visions of this delicious food and his days to come in the enchanted heaven...
Read moreI have been a customer at Yesenia's for years! I'm talking like literally since they first opened. I never had a problem with them at all but today when I placed my order over the phone to pick up during my break I asked for the egg and chorizo breakfast plate. I asked what all comes with it and he said potatoes and beans. I asked if I can substitute the beans for sausage and they said that's fine but charged me $1.00 extra without telling me it was extra. When I received my order, I got egg ranchero plate. I called to tell them that they got my order wrong and the cashier basically argues with me and insisted that I ordered that. I'm pretty sure I know what I ordered/wanted and egg rancheros is not it! I decided to still eat the plate but ultimately did not like the eggs so I went back to get my money back. The food is usually good but not this plate. The customer service is HORRIBLE. When I went to return my food and explained to the owner what happened, she also was rolling her eyes and seemed uninterested and unapologetic which surprises me because like I said, I've been a long time customer and I never had a problem with them getting my order wrong or anything before. Their slogan is far from "the customer is always right." Because of this incident, I will no longer order from yesenia's. They lost a long time customer as well as a few of my coworkers due to...
Read moreI squeaked in there pretty late, and everything was still so fresh, so sparkling clean, and the two young people behind the counter were so gracious and polite. It really was a very pleasant atmosphere and you can tell that it's very family and service oriented. I had the fish rolled tacos and they did not disappoint. They were quite full of delicious fish, not too greasy not too salty, fresh shredded lettuce and tomato on them and a very special sauce not the usual weird white sauce that people put on fish. This was a quite delicious lighter sauce. They also had a number of Salsas to choose from and I tried four out of the five. A tomatillo sauce, an avocado salsa, what they called the chunky salsa, and a jalapeno crema. Each one was tasty in a different way, and even though the jalapeno was very hot, it was also very delicious! I would definitely come back here again and I would drive to Carmel Mountain rather than going to something closer to me, just because the total experience here...
