Azucar Lounge may be a little off the beaten path but it is worth taking a lyft and venturing out to the hidden gem. Citizen is nearby but I think this is actually the more desirable destination. Azucar as the name may imply has an emphasis on Spanish infusion as well as sweeter drinks. Their selection of cocktails is pretty impressive and if you are looking for a quality tequila or margarita you are in the right place. I have gone here and it was completely packed with a 40 mins wait to get in and I have gone and walked right in and had my run of the bar. It depends on the night but make a reservation just in case.
Once inside you are greeted by large tables for huge get together of which there is always a few going on. It adds to the noise levels and well as the great ambiance music playing in the background. Make your way back to the very small and crowded bar and wait for a delicious cocktail. They have a full stocked bar but you should indulge in their specialty drinks. You may end up with a giant celery stalk in your drink but it worth the risk. There is also quality food here. The menu is small but the food is delicious. Give Taco Tuesday as try and get a plateful of tacos for less than ten dollars. They also have other Spanish foods that are worth giving a shot as well.
Azucar is a great place to meet up with friends for a well-deserved drinks or trying to squeeze in with a date if you can find a seat. It's not perfect but there are few places that are. A nice eclectic bar in SF that stands out when many try too hard to...
Read moreHighly recommend Azucar Lounge if you are looking for a relaxed setting, south of Market, not far from Civic Center. The cocktails are thoughtfully crafted, with high quality spirits, and many house made tinctures in the beverages. The tacos are delicious. Azucar is great for after work or other small group gatherings, with couches and large tables to accommodate a group. They also have small tables- so good for couples. We came in on the last Thursday of the month, and participated in their Agave Spirit Tasting experience. It was marvelous. The owner was extremely knowledgeable, yet friendly and approachable, as he taught us about Agave Spirits, both tequila and mescal. We were treated to a number of tastings, and some yummy Mexican street food. Check it out the last Thursday of the month, or any time. The wait and bar staff are extremely friendly. This is indeed a neighborhood gem...
Read moreI had to work on a Friday night due to a a tight deadline on a project so I came here hoping I could do some work whilst having a couple drinks...after all it was Friday. Upon arriving, I was greeting with a smile and I asked if it was cool to pull out my laptop and work while I ordered drinks and small plates. The host said, "of course" and sat me down. Throughout the night, both the host and server were SUPER attentive and friendly ensuring I was doing ok despite it being packed with other patrons. After I finished my food and drinks, they brought over a bottle of water so I could stay hydrated. I'll be coming back again with the spouse (when I am not working) to enjoy the delicious food, refreshing drinks and the awesome vibe/atmosphere.
If interested, I had: 2 Ale Industries La Niña Fresa -- delicious and smooth. 1 sope and a 1 quesadilla -- both...
