This was the absolute worse hotel I've ever stayed in and I've stayed in 2 1/2 star hotels in NYC back in 2021 after Covid and I never seen the things I've seen while staying here. Upon entering my room, there was a brownish colored stain in front of the door. When I walked in, the floor creaked, it was sloped and unstable. It felt like a few floorboards were loose under the carpet. The room was the tiniest hotel room I've ever stayed in in my entire life. There was hardly any room for a couple to move around without stepping to the side to let the other pass by. Then there was a slanted wall mounted tv which made it more difficult to pass by to get to the other side of the bed or bathroom. The blinds were so sheer, when I looked out the window, I could see into 2 other rooms through their windows with the same sheer blinds installed. 😳 Also, the mini fridge in the room did not work at all. Don't get me started on the bathroom shower stall... it was the most disgusting shower I've ever seen. There was scattered black mold embedded in the tile all over from top to bottom. The shower head must've been broken because when I turned it on, the water that came out looked like 3 small individual streams of water. Not a full actual shower. I could barely rinse my body in full. I had to rinse it in sections. I tried all the shower head settings and that was the "best" setting. The other settings were like trickles. The shower drain that was installed was very wobbly and made me feel like I was going to fall in the shower. Very slippery and unstable. What a poor and dangerous design. Not to mention underneath the drain when I lifted it up, there was gooey dirty matted hair stuck to it...and it wasn't mine. I never washed my hair here.
Last but not least, the walls were EXTREMELY thin. You could hear every occupant's conversation, footsteps in the rooms and hallways, doors slamming etc. Everything was loud. I did not anticipate a good night's sleep at all with all the commotion going on at 11pm and onwards.
I'll NEVER recommend this hotel or stay here ever again. Let alone come to San Francisco for a vacation. The surrounding areas are pretty sketchy, but not as bad as I've seen compared to the other area, which looked even more sketchy and appeared to be unsafe. Although my hotel review is negative, I have 1 positive compliment to say about the hotel front desk representative. He was really accommodating and helpful when we inquired about checking in and parking. He promised to save us a parking spot, and he did. He was very pleasant to speak to and overall more friendly than any other hotel representative I've dealt with. He had an "Indian" accent, if I am correct. I didn't learn his name, but he...
Read moreSo I was in San Francisco for a big tech conference and as it was a busy conference weekend in SF, hotels were quite expensive including this one, I paid almost $1500 Canadian for four nights. (Usually this place is about $125/night) But no matter what you pay, I think people should definitely know what they might be signing themselves up for in advance.
First I will start with the good. The staff are very nice and helpful. They were super friendly and sociable.
Secondly, the location is quite central to Union Square and the conference center (about a 15 minute walk). The walk (if you avoid Mission Street) is fairly clean and pretty safe.
The room itself was nicely designed and well appointed though quite tired and worn out. (some stains on the walls and carpeting but nothing major). The bed had nice bedding and a comfortable mattress.
Now as for the not so good. The elevator is completely out of service ( having read older reviews from several months ago, I would have assumed it would have been repaired by now). By out of service, I mean on the third floor it’s literally a giant hole in the wall boarded up with plywood. No one worked on it the whole week I was there. (See photo).
I was staying on the third floor. The stairs up from the lobby side of the building are extremely narrow and steep and carrying a large suitcase up was borderline impossible. If you have ANY sort of mobility issues, there would be no way up those stairs. The carpeting on the stairs is also badly stained.
The water pressure is pretty much non existent. The water was barely coming out of the shower. When I tried to have my first shower, it took about 20 minutes to get even slightly warm. I had a barely wet kind of cold shower a couple of times. It was freezing because I could barely get properly under the flow of water as it was so weak. I noticed if I had a shower later, presumably after other guests had finished showering, the water got warmer, so maybe it’s just too small a hot water tank? Either way, even when the water was hotter, it was barely coming out of the shower head.
On the third night, I found a live cockroach climbing around near my bathroom sink. (See video).
I think if I’d paid less than $125 to stay here I might have let some of this slide but they were gouging people that weekend because they could and the place really does have some pretty brutal issues for any sort of hotel.
Anyway, I think is information I would have liked to have before booking this hotel, especially for such a huge amount of money. Pretty disappointing especially...
Read moreThis hotel is an absolute scam. They advertise rooms on Booking.com that they don't have and won't refund for the discrepancy.
We booked a room listed and confirmed as "1 separate bedroom, 1 bunkbed, a living room and 1 king bed". When we arrived, we were put in a tiny room with 1 bunkbed and 2 queen beds in a shared space. There was no sperate room and no living space to speak of. There wasn't a couch, just a desk space. When my husband spoke with the front desk, he was told they were out of the specified rooms and he "upgraded" us to their largest room. When I went down to speak with him, I was told "we don't have rooms like that here". I told him my booking comfirmation specifically stated that the room had a separate bedroom and he just shrugged, saying they don't have those kinds of rooms. He insisted he "upgraded" us to the next largest room, but then proceeded to show me a room behind the lobby that had a king size bed with a little more space, but it wasn't what we needed. I told him since the room I paid for wasn't available, I'd need to go somewhere else and he said he couldn't issue a refund because I was within their non refund window, and to contact Booking.com for my refund. I instantly reached out to them and told them the room I booked didn't even exist. They agreed I ought to be reimbursed and filed a complaint against the hotel and sent them an enquiry. They stated once they heard back from the property, they could release by refund. The hotel has conveniently "not heard anything", so customer service at Booking.com sent a second enquiry a few days later. I've followed up with Signature and they said, "we haven't heard from Booking.com at all, and you don't qualify for a refund." I tried calling, and they are not answering my calls. They do see the names/numbers when we call, so I believe they are deliberately ignoring my calls.
Also, the elevator is "being replaced", so the only way to access the top floors is to take incredibly narrow, steep stairs. That's after you leave your keys with the front desk at their insistence. The hotel is difficult to access; the entrance is through a gated garage. You have to call the front desk to let you in.
There are far better, cheaper options available. Use them and avoid this one...
