Love this place for Mexican breakfast lunch or dinner! They are open early and serve breakfast burritos all day! Yum! My favorite is dinner and dessert! Any of their dinner plates are good and burritos with carne asada or carnitas are great! I love the chicken flautas and have been going back and forth between that and a plain cheese quesadilla. My most favorite food item is their to die for cream filled churros! Soo good right after they are made. They can be really hot but as with most food the sooner you eat it the better because I'm telling you they are like heaven sticks lightly filled with a vanilla cream. El Capitans Churros are amazing.. I mean.. Soo Good! I have never tried churros that were filled with a light cream! Best part is that those yummy cinnamon sugary churros are also cheap and the people are all nice and work very hard. I respect smaller family businesses. EL Capitan Taqueria is also affordable for the most people and their prices are very very fair. Especially compared to Carl's Junior or Denny's which is waaay overpriced but Very reasonable for San Franciscos Best! Great Fajitas that feed 2 people! I recommend getting one extra scoop of meat and one extra tortilla if sharing the fajitas. On a budget? I know the feeling. One of my go-tos is the Cheese Quesadilla and the Churros are my happiness! Also even if if your order is pick up or to go please tip the person try and dip the nice women there and the cooks are great too! They work very well together and they work long hard hours. I give them a lot of credit especially on the weekend! Also if you eat inside be sure to tip and they will usually give you chips and salsa with your order whether you stay there or not (usually chips and salsa are on the house with the purchase of a meal or items off the menu. I have had a lot of Mexican Food including taco trucks in the California Central Valley down South in Palm Springs. El Capitan is a winner in my book for Mexican restaurants in the BAY Area. I have not had anything at the restaurant Tortillas and Fresh Meat and Fresh Produce. I will have to say that while in the BAY AREA which I am born and raised let me tell you, El Capitan Taqueria is my one of my very favorites! I appreciated them all much when I lived in the city and still go there on weekends or after a night out. Take Care and I highly recommend this Restaurant. Love the food and great employees and great chefs too! Thanks El Capitan See u Soon for Churros and Oh yes, they make agua frescas and they have strawberry and they have a horchata that they make from scratch too, they also have Jarritos! Must try and If someone isn't in the mood for Mexican, they have a pizza shop connected to it on the Folsom side. El Capitan is on the corner of Folsom and 8th Street and I hope you get to try their amazing food , Drinks and dessert if you haven't already. Thanks again to all the owners, employees chefs, front desk/cashier girls that are fast moving on the weekends and peak times. Just like the chef will be going Soo fast with all the door dash and after hour crowd. If possible go in the afternoon when it isn't busy and crazy!Only advice is they get super busy Thursday-Saturday nights especially last two or three hours. Best time to go is about 2 or 2:30PM in the afternoon for weekends and weekdays and all the Frescas will be muy fresh and thr Horchata will be fresher. Also they aren't Soo crazy busy and they have seating inside and outside. Can dine in and carry out. This restaurant is also sanitary and employees are clean with hair net, masks and gloves. Thanks and see you sooner than you think.... More pics to come :) -Annie Bye...
Read moreI eat here a couple times a week and the food is always fresh and very yummy. I am from San Diego and frequently crossed into Tijuana for authentic Mexican food so I’m a little picky lol. This place hits the spot. My order is always correct and the servers are always friendly.
I should have wrote this review earlier but I don’t really write reviews. What sparked me to write this review was my experience last night around 9pm. I came for pick up and sat at a table until my food was ready. I got my foods couple minutes later and left. When I got home, after eating I noticed my phone was missing. I was obviously panicking lol. I turned my room upside down and came to the conclusion that i must have left it at the restaurant. I walked back over there and asked them if I left it there. The server looked and found my phone!! I showed them it was mine by putting in the passcode and left. I was so freaking happy!! This could have been disastrous.
I am writing this review to let people know that this place rocks. Not only is the food amazing but the services are friendly and honest people which is not very common in San Francisco nowadays. Thank you so much for being great people. I hope people will read this review and give this...
Read moreI waited 45 minutes today for 1 quesadilla with 5 total customers in the store. I was the first to order but last order to be made, and when I stood up to ask about my order after seeing 4 people who ordered after me receive their food first, one of the cooks sat down in my chair to eat his own dinner, forcing me to continue waiting at a different table. Again, there were 5 total customers in the store--no shortage of empty tables.
On top of that, when I got home, I found that my "vegan" quesadilla had been made with dairy cheese. I had just recently started returning to this restaurant to give it another chance after previous bad experiences with poorly trained cashiers or cooks not understanding what "vegan" means on their own menu items and serving me meat or dairy, and this might just be the final straw for me.
I hate to review negatively because I do enjoy the food served here when it is properly made by the few employees who actually know what they're doing, but I cannot overlook the kind of rudeness I experienced from the employees today, or continue to overlook the lack of care it takes to serve meat/dairy in a...
