I’m shocked at how non existent the service was. Food was meh. But service, shocking.. I was actually, pretty insulted. I had to retrieve a server to take our order. We tried to waive someone over after waiting for about 30 minutes when there was only one other table. We didn’t even have waters. My friend who got there first had ordered a drink so they knew we were here, and she was waiting for one more person. Our server sent over his assist who honestly seemed drunk. Couldn’t make eye contact or hold a conversation, got my order wrong in the most ridiculous way. I ordered a side with a meal and he only brought me the side. No one checked on us ever. I had to ask for water like I was trying to catch a squirrel because I knew this dude was not going to notice we didn’t have them, or heaven forbid offer us any before he walked away. I had to track someone down to re-order my meal, and when I did it was like trying to explain to a child what algebra was. No one ever came back to the table for so long that when I absolutely needed to pay I had to stand around inside waiting for someone who looked like they worked there to bring me the bill after I had already forged my own napkin. Again, food was fine. Something I could have made on a collage budget, with minimal skill, but...

We went there and sat ourselves down at an empty table, since it’s just a walk-in place and that’s what we were told to do when I asked. We were sitting there for maybe 10 minutes, waiting for service, and the two waitresses just completely ignored us. They even went and sat people down that walked in, and took their orders before even acknowledging us
Then, when we asked for a menu, the waitress gave it to us and snidely said “You know, if you sat down at a table that was already set, then all of this would have already been here for you”. She said this mainly to my younger brother (a MINOR), who asked for the menus.
(Mind you, the majority of the tables weren’t bussed, and we were at the only clean table that should have been set.)
To make it even worse, one man was sat down right next to us, and had gotten there fifteen minutes after us. Within five minutes, he was given a menu, a glass of water, utensils, and had his order taken.
To sum it up, I am extremely disappointed at the lackluster and indecorous service. I will never try going back there again, and I recommend that others steer...
Read more10 to 15 years ago this place may have been called the pretentious new breakfast spot to spring up in the Mission. Nowadays after surviving a decade plus (and a fire!) of serving the neighborhood it's considered a staple. That's how fast SF changes. 😉
Regardless whether you are a lover, or a hater, one fact remains - this place can make a mean breakfast! Chef hand kiss to the vegetarian biscuits and gravy which are a life line to newly embarked vege friends as they seriously rival popular meat competitors. But by no means is this a vege only establishment as there are many delicious meat selections (bacon, sausage, biscuits oh my!) for the omnivore majority en masse.
Regardless which direction you go, head there knowing you have the option to side your breakfast plate with some of the best house potatoes offered in SF. Pro-tip:Throw a side of gravy on those B's. I won't judge you, it's...
