I’m shocked at how non existent the service was. Food was meh. But service, shocking.. I was actually, pretty insulted. I had to retrieve a server to take our order. We tried to waive someone over after waiting for about 30 minutes when there was only one other table. We didn’t even have waters. My friend who got there first had ordered a drink so they knew we were here, and she was waiting for one more person. Our server sent over his assist who honestly seemed drunk. Couldn’t make eye contact or hold a conversation, got my order wrong in the most ridiculous way. I ordered a side with a meal and he only brought me the side. No one checked on us ever. I had to ask for water like I was trying to catch a squirrel because I knew this dude was not going to notice we didn’t have them, or heaven forbid offer us any before he walked away. I had to track someone down to re-order my meal, and when I did it was like trying to explain to a child what algebra was. No one ever came back to the table for so long that when I absolutely needed to pay I had to stand around inside waiting for someone who looked like they worked there to bring me the bill after I had already forged my own napkin. Again, food was fine. Something I could have made on a collage budget, with minimal skill, but...

If I could give the place a half star or even zero stars, I would. We went there and sat ourselves down at an empty table, since it’s just a walk-in place and that’s what we were told to do when I asked. We were sitting there for maybe 10 minutes, waiting for service, and the two waitresses just completely ignored us. They even went and sat people down that walked in, and took their orders before even acknowledging us

Then, when we asked for a menu, the waitress gave it to us and snidely said “You know, if you sat down at a table that was already set, then all of this would have already been here for you”. She said this mainly to my younger brother (a MINOR), who asked for the menus.

(Mind you, the majority of the tables weren’t bussed, and we were at the only clean table that should have been set.)

To make it even worse, one man was sat down right next to us, and had gotten there fifteen minutes after us. Within five minutes, he was given a menu, a glass of water, utensils, and had his order taken.

To sum it up, I am extremely disappointed at the lackluster and indecorous service. I will never try going back there again, and I recommend that others steer...

10 to 15 years ago this place may have been called the pretentious new breakfast spot to spring up in the Mission. Nowadays after surviving a decade plus (and a fire!) of serving the neighborhood it's considered a staple. That's how fast SF changes. 😉

Regardless whether you are a lover, or a hater, one fact remains - this place can make a mean breakfast! Chef hand kiss to the vegetarian biscuits and gravy which are a life line to newly embarked vege friends as they seriously rival popular meat competitors. But by no means is this a vege only establishment as there are many delicious meat selections (bacon, sausage, biscuits oh my!) for the omnivore majority en masse.

Regardless which direction you go, head there knowing you have the option to side your breakfast plate with some of the best house potatoes offered in SF. Pro-tip:Throw a side of gravy on those B's. I won't judge you, it's...

First of all, the food was spectacular! Plenty and delicious! Coffee was tasty and strong! Blueberry muffin was the best! 5 stars for the food!! What lacked and needed attention at that time, when it wasn't busy or bustling at all, was the service. They didn't come by to refill my waters and coffee periodically. Basically just sat there trying to wave someone over. Again, it wasn't busy. I've been to eateries when they were really busy, I get it. I understand. This visit wasn't it. I'm sorry. I've been here many times before. Don't remember this happening to me before. Guess it was just a bad luck day for me. Food was very palatable! I hope it doesn't occur next time...

Super yum! With so many old favorites closing down I am so glad this SF legend is still here. New ownership and new menu items are bringing in many changes, but the same rockstar cook is wielding the spatula. Though the spuds put this place on the breakfast map, I was delighted that crispy golden hash browns have finally arrived. I subbed them to enjoy with the Xoch omelette covered in the coveted housemade ranchero sauce. I could drink their strong coffee black, but, golly! the creamer arrived *warmed.* What?! Wow! Thanks for making my day. Here's to another three decades of excellence.

Snazzy looking and makes a terrific first impression , just in terms of how it presents itself. It’s My favorite Latin American restaurant in SF for brunch ; the architecture within and without has style : wide open space, high ceilings are becalming ; the furniture - booths along with chairs and tables - is arranged as if we are in a neighborhood ! Come early morning to see the hood; my favorite food here is burrito stuffed with mushroom , black olives and cheese , topped with ranchero sauce ; the salsa sauce is flavorful without being spicy. Service is supremely friendly !
