So I went here two nights in a row. There was a distinct need for this as the drink menu being complex as it is, and also time consuming for the bartenders to mix really does not lend itself to "wining and dining" unless you are a very, very patient person.
That being said, the first night having drinks, I sat with Adriano (the owner) and had a fabulous time and drank to my hearts content. Everything was superbly executed, the bartenders (of course) knew exactly what they were doing and I left quite happy to have spent $95 on just drinks.
Now comes last night. It was about as packed as it could get and there really were no places at the bar or anywhere else to wait. I wedged myself in, ordered a few drinks and waited for a table. The bartenders were beyond slammed, and it really showed in the amount of time my party had to wait for our drinks... making fabulous drinks, from scratch when there are people bursting out of the restaurant does not work well.. needless to say our drinks again were superb and we were seated for our dinner.
Dinner: Really great. I have no complaints about any of it. We had 2 different types of Bruchetta, a large arugla salad, some beets, and a pizza. Everything was great. The prices were perfect for the portion sizes, the flavors were fantastic, the salad was lightly dressed and simple, and the pizza was well cooked and flavorful. I ordered beers being well aware of the length of time it takes for a drink, however friends ordered cocktails and paid for it dearly as they waited about 13min for their vodka soda etc... The only real weakness besides that I would say is the dessert, although the ice cream is really unusual and tasty if you don't feel like something frozen you are out of luck... they need to work on that part of the menu. Total bill for dinner/drinks/20% for 2 $100.00 a bargain in my book!
All in all I am very excited to have this place in my neighborhood... LSC lacked "depth" and character, this place really makes up for it, and although for me I hope it's not as busy all the time as it was last night, it's...
Read moreWould love to give this spot a better rating but the host really spoiled our evening.
I was there June 8th, 2021. We called ahead at 9:35pm to make sure their kitchen was still open and we'd be sat. They said it would be fine if we arrived quickly. We arrived at 9:45pm and asked to be sat indoors. The host initially lied and said no tables were available although there was one that we pointed to. He then refused to sit us indoors since they were near closing and it somehow made more sense to seat us outside. He had little customer service savvy and clearly was lacking in basic logic as meals served inside or outside would still require serving and cleaning up - more so if outdoors as chair would be stacked.
I personally was ready to leave but my partner was hungry so we took a seat outside. The server was thankfully brilliant and accommodating in huge contrast to this host. Further, the waiter told us the host told him to be "extra nice" since he realized he made a mistake. Clearly it was not enough of an issue for him since he did not apologize and offer us a table indoors.
We ordered promptly, ate, stacked our plates and tipped our server by 10:20pm. At that point there were 10 diners still indoors and other folks enjoying their dinners.
All diners indoors were white persons, I am a brown person wearing a hoodie which may have been "unsavory" to his sensibilities.
Decent place but lacking in logical and kind...
Read moreThis restaurant was a bit of a drive from our hotel, but the food looked so delicious, we decided to give it a shot. After exiting our Uber, we walked up to the door & were greeted by the hostess. She informed us that there was an hour and forty-five minute wait for a table. Somewhat disappointed, we decided to take a walk. While passing by the back door, we noticed 2 seats opening up at the bar and quickly jumped in them. We were thrilled. After sitting down, the bartender asked how he could help us & we told him it was our first time there. He started making recommendations, which we happily went with. We ordered 3 appetizers and a pizza and it was plenty of food for the two of us. It wasn't just enough, though, it was also extremely delicious, all of it, especially the pizza. We ordered the Eggplant Caponatina, which was fresh and light, the Walnut bread, which had a really satisfying flavor, and we ordered the Dungeness Crab Arancini, which was good, but with the Aioli, made amazing. Next for the pizza, we explained that my girlfriend was mostly vegan, but we liked spicy foods. The gentleman recommended that we order an off-menu pizza with olives, Barrata & spicy marinara, said that lots of the employees order that combo & really like it. That's exactly what we did. The pizza was definitely the star of the show, but also, a big shout out to the bartender for being friendly, helpful, and recommending an...
