DROPPED MY BURRITO ON SIDEWALK BETWEEN 19TH AND 20TH. STILL ATE IT.
Look, it wasn’t my proudest moment. I heard great things about Breakfast Little and I did not walk through the bleak February rain to come home empty handed and heartbroken. Those feelings can wait till the 14th. I told too many of my Tender-Nob peers about my excursion to the Mission. If I came back empty-handed, I would've been humiliated and exiled to Alameda where I’d be forced to watch the city change from afar as I grow old and frail.
Anyway, back to the tragic moment. I was given a paper sleeve to hold my burrito–my fault for not asking for a bag. I don’t understand the point of those paper sleeves; it doesn’t make the burrito any easier to hold. Plus, the tin foil already acts as a protection. The health classes we took in school during those “coming to age years” taught us not to double up. Another reason why we can’t afford to cut funding to our school systems.
I walked towards BART, right hand holding a warm spicy Mexican Mocha Latte, left hand juggling my umbrella and burrito. Between 19th and 20th, it happened. The paper sleeve started to give to the weight of the burrito as water droplets slowly compromised the integrity of the bag. In all my years of burrito munching I’ve never foolishly held just the corner of a burrito sleeve cover.
The burrito fell horizontally and made a satisfying “plop” sound. Just like the resilient people of the Mission, the burrito remained intact and strong. After I was done yelling my favorite four letter word, I picked up the burrito, turned it over to see that the tin foil was also compromised. There's a strong possibility that the naked tortilla made direct contact with the wet Mission concrete.
At that moment, I felt like those characters in zombie movies who find out that their friend got bit in the arm and now you have to decide if you should off your buddy or leave them there to turn. I rushed the burrito home. I nervously sat on BART thinking of the interactions once I returned home. What if I run into a homie in the neighborhood and they ask to see the burrito? Even worse, what if they ask me to take a bite on the spot? What should’ve been a hero’s welcome home has now turned into a shameful dash to my studio apartment.
I took a type-writter approach to eating this burrito to avoid the side that touched the sidewalk. Similar to the way you’d progress through corn still on the cob. Burritos are perfectly designed to be bit the traditional way so you can balance all ingredients engulfed in the mighty tortilla. Type-writter style leads to unbalanced bites of the ingredients. If I had chosen a burrito order I was more familiar with such as their “OG” which is essentially a classic breakfast burrito, I’d be able to navigate my bites appropriately. I went with the "Bad and/or Boujee" which contains chicken sausage, brie, and fig jam. Uncharted territory.
I like brie, sue me. I don’t know why brie is always marketed as dainty cheese reserved for brunch with the gals. Men like a little brie with the boys. It’s a cheese with character.
Still, it was too much brie in that first bite. All in all, at some point I forgot I dropped the burrito. Ate the whole thing, wet pavement residue and all. You say you love the city, but you ain’t got the streets in you like I do.
10/10 will come back to...
Read moreThis place first opened in 2019, making breakfast sandwiches, and made a shift to breakfast burritos in 2022 since it was popular and what the community wanted. We came here right when they opened. People were already coming to pick up their phone orders, doordash, etc. I let a few people go ahead of me because I knew I wanted to get the OG breakfast burrito, but they had so many other options. Emily helped me, and she was super nice. She helped me decide which items should add avovado and what was best with sausage or bacon. While I waited, I couldn't help but look around and take pictures. They had a lot of tables on the inside for the space they had. They even had outdoor seating. I liked the pictures they had everywhere. The place was pretty and bright.
This is what I ordered:
OG Breakfast burrito (sausage and bacon with avocado): When I got it, it was lighter than I anticipated, but it was delicious. My mind was blown with the first bite like I saw on social media. The tortilla was nice and soft, and it was just a flavor explosion in your mouth.
BL sandwich with sausage: The pan de sal was fresh and soft. It was just like the ones I bought in filipino bakeries. It had chopped sausage with scrambled eggs. It was soft and fluffy. To me, this was good and a decent size.
BL Tots w/ avocado and over easy egg & bacon : Tots were super crunchy with the melty cheese, chunks of bacon, and fresh avocado..this was a meal on it's own.
Breakfast tacos: This was heavy and huge. It looked like one giant taco. Deliciously tasty.
NYM (Not your mom's) PB&J Toast - I was too full to try this. I ended up toasting it, and it made the coconut nice and toasty. This was delicious. I never knew coconut w/ pj&j could be so tasty.
Strawberry and pineapple agua fresca: This was a little too sweet for me.
I can't wait to come back soon. They have good food and I highly recommend it. Prices were reasonable and affordable. The recent upcharge they have is from the increase in price of eggs...

the service and owner/staffs that breath love into breakfast little really shines in the way they decorated the spacious place, the genuine and thoughtful way speak to you, the almost no wait time from ordering to giving you the food. i'm very satisfied with it all.
what i also love is how expansive but also restrictive their menu is. it's the perfect amount of options that doesn't overwhelm the patron but also can still meet the picky people's preferences. shout out to them on that.
now to the food. did anyone expect anything less than 4 for a business that has 4.5 on yelp? it met and exceeded my expectations of food and drinks. their food sets apart from the rest is the fusion aspect that is done right. it enhances the flavors but also sets true to what the food item is.
the og is really og and i understand why it's so popular. though i did just get a breakfast burrito, i don't know, it tastes really really good. the tater tots alongside their own sausage gives the breakfast burrito new textures and flavors. el sancho is a close second for me, the spicy zing was a HIT. and third but still great, is bad and boujee as it is sweet and salty, but nothing beats the og.
the agua fresca for today was blueberry pineapple and what more can i say? it's delicious. housemade juice? yes sirrr. next time i'll try to request for less ice but again it's nice and refreshing ofc.
mad appreciation and respect for...
