The server that served us was very rude. According to the check, her name is Alejandra. Just to make sure she's about 5', dark curly hair, with maybe braces. Don't want to call out the wrong person if the server name is wrong on our check. Anyway we ordered a Tempranillo from Rioja, a Sangiovese from I forgot where (I think it was Italy) , and a Sonoma Pinot, because one of us is in love with California Pinots. When the wines came, we went around tasting each others wine, we are generally curious and love to learn about wine and like to get as much exposure as possible. So while we were trying the Sangiovese that was served to my friend, it was very obvious that it was a Sonoma Pinot. As you know, Sonoma Pinots have a distinct taste to it. I'm not a fan but my friend loooooves it. So obviously we were like okay, she probably gave us the wrong glass, totally cool. But now I wonder which one is the Tempranillo and which is the Sangiovese. We would like to know just for educational purposes. We are all familiar with California wine but not as familiar for Spanish or italian wines. So when Alejandra came, I mentioned to her that the Pinot was switched and now we don't know what is what, I was in doubt that mine was a tempranillo. She got upset that we switched and repeated three times that the way she sat down the glass was correct. THREE times. Why don't you prove me wrong by pouring a tiny pour of the sonoma pinot to see if matches the taste? All she did was deny and raise her voice at me in a condescending way. If you get her as your server, good luck lol. Not only she'll mess up your wine order, but you'll get a spicy attitude from her. We only tipped our bill 15% because of her. To be honest, the rest of the staff had great services. They're pretty fast and efficient.

We had the: -Gamba Al Ajillo- 9/10 -Grilled Octopus - great piece of octopus, but too salty! 6/10 (you should get this and just wipe the salt off yourself!) -Rabo de Buey - 7/10 (I wouldn't order it again) -Secreto Iberico - too dry so 5/10 -Pimiento Piquillo - the one with crab roe in it 6/10 -Smoked Oysters - 10/10 -Squid Ink Paella 3/10 - mostly just butter, not much seafood. If you're loading up on carbs, this is a...

I recently had a fantastic dining experience at Bota Tapas & Paella Bar with a group of two.

Our waiter welcomed us with a warm smile and introduced us to the menu, going the extra mile by offering some valuable recommendations. We decided to try a variety of dishes, and we were not disappointed.

We started with the Patatas Bravas, a delightful dish with fried potatoes in a flavorful brava sauce and creamy garlic aioli.

Our waiter's top recommendation was the Brussels sprouts, which came topped with San Simone cheese and drizzled with extra virgin olive oil. The addition of chorizo gave it that extra kick of flavor. This dish was a pleasant surprise, and I can see why it's a must-try.

The best dish of the night was the Fideuà Surf and Turf Paella. It had a mix of ingredients like rice, saffron-flavored beef, big prawns, mussels, tasty fish, juicy chicken, and spicy chorizo. The mix of seafood and land-based meats was delicious, and the rice was full of flavor, bringing it all together beautifully.

What impressed us most about Bota Tapas & Paella Bar was not just the delicious food but also the exceptional service. Our waiter's recommendations were spot-on, and his attentiveness throughout the meal made the evening even more enjoyable.

Just had dinner there tonight and this place was pretty awful.. We got 4 tapas ( 4 people) which were meatballs, brussel sprouts, potatoes and mussels. We will start off with the decent food. The meatballs tasted alright, just 3 small ones though so not really worth the price. The sprouts were good and the potatoes were prolly the best, but it’s kinda hard to screw up fried potatoes covered with sauce and sour cream. The bad, the mussels were super gross, they tasted fishy and old. I’ve had way way better mussels from my hometown in Indiana. The broth that came with it wasn’t good either. We got the large surf and turf paella and it was the worst I’ve ever had. The rice was super over cooked and mushy. It was little burnt at the bottom, the sausage was pretty much burnt, the calimari was tough and rubbery. I didn’t taste the shrimp or the prawns. We got dessert and the chocolate ganache tasted awful, liquid smoke was so overpowering. Service was painfully slow. Definitely would not ever come back here. Thank gosh we had a later lunch that was amazing because if I was hungry and came here to eat dinner I would...

Bota has a very hip and cute ambiance. You can choose to sit at a high top table or standard. We ordered the Jamon Serrano charcuterie board, pulpo, patatas bravas (my favorite dish ever), and paella valencia. The Jamon charcuterie board - delicious! I wish there was manchego cheese with this and more bread. But overall very delicious. Pulpo - the light in my husband's eyes when he ate it and tasted it warmed my little heart. He said it reminded him of Spain and tasted exactly how he remembered it. You know it's good if you're getting flashbacks (lol). Patatas Bravas - my husband and I were split. He likes his potatoes more on the crispier/burnt side and I felt that they hit the mark exactly. I like my potatoes golden and crisp. The sauce was amazing. Paella Valenciana - this dish was average. My husband and I both felt as if it was missing something. But the dish wasn't too bad. But for sure we would have reconsidered a $50 dish if it wasn't going to deliver. Overall our visit here was good. The tapas were amazing. When we come back we will stick to tapas only.

Went to dinner for 2 prior to show at the Playhouse a block away. Food: basically small plates and paella. We got a few small plates including octopus, smoked oysters, meatballs. We also got the regular squid ink paella and a couple of glasses of red wine. The octopus was average, and meatballs were meh. I was disappointed by the smoked oysters which weren't really smoked. It was more of a presentation thing. It was hard to taste the actual raw oyster with all the chorizo on top. Plenty of food though and we were definitely full by the end. Server was attentive and timely. Except for when an olive fell on the floor in front of her feet because I was trying to cut it and she totally saw didn't pick it up. I thought that was a bit odd. Ambiance was great. Company was great. Across the street from the Tony rembi theater. Super convenient for pre-theater dining. Would go back because of that but otherwise there are better restaurants in the city. Extra 6% in the fine print on top of tax and tip.
