This is for the Boudin’s at Macy’s San Francisco at the LL.
Terrible food! Terrible manager. The lady with the glasses and husky voice kept yelling at the poor Asian woman “repeat the orders to the kitchen! Repeat the orders back!” We felt bad for the Asian lady. This Asian lady was always happy and polite. Then you had some real heavyset lady (another manager) just sitting at one of the tables watching the show as if this was ok. She couldn’t get up once to help the long line or check in on the kitchen? Terribly run. The focus isn’t on the customer, it’s on them and how fast they make the crap which they call food and serve us.
Do yourself a favor! Don’t eat here. The managers are lazy and mean yelling at the employees. Then at one point the husky voice manager tells a customer “I don’t what’s happening back there” when the kitchen made a wrong sandwich and this manager attempted to blame the Asian lady! We don’t support establishments that condone yelling at employees. This manager needs training. The other manager who just sat at a table needs to also go through training.
Shameful. Never again! Not only is Macy’s going downhill, all the eateries too. Should have just got a cheesecake at...
Read moreI am from Europe and accustomed to having bread for breakfast. The bread at this place is ok (I.e. not bad, not great). The service is so-so: I ordered a baguette, but then changed my mind and wanted to get a Dutch tiger bread (this is not the name they use in the shop, but in the Netherlands we call it “tijgerbrood”) instead, before paying. The lady serving first represented this could not be changed. As the price of the tiger bread was much lower than the baguette, she tried to give me two Tiger bread instead, which would still cost less than the baguette, but she said it is “approximately the same”. When I insisted that she change it to one tiger bread only, she reluctantly called the supervisor, who was friendly and changed it without a problem. The lady serving also wanted to give me a carrier bag, which she charged me for without asking, with the reasoning that I did not ask for not having a bag. The idea of charged bags is to discourage use of them and giving people one without asking defeats the purpose. I took the bread from her and put them in my own bag, but I am disturbed by the standard policy of providing (and charging) unwanted bags from an environmental...
Read moreI am an SF local who took some relatives shopping at Macy's tonight. They just wanted to spend money, so I went to Macy's basement for a quick sandwich. There, at Boudin, I ran into a large Caucasian woman who appeared to be the manager of the Boudin Cafe. "We have no bread, so we're not taking orders," she snarled. Will have some in a half hour. Okay, there were no other food spots, so I waited. Eventually, I noticed others being served, so I went back, trying to avoid this woman. Sadly, to no avail. I asked for a pastrami melt. "We have none," she said. Okay, what do you have? A rib melt. Okay, and I added a cold tea and some crisps.
I sat and waited. I got the sandwich, but no tea. I questioned the helpful young server, and she checked for me; apparently, it wasn't on the bill. The previously referenced woman was glaring at me. So I took the sandwich and moved to a different place to buy a drink. This woman is officious and rude, and I doubt people are happy with her surly approach. Most are tourists that you will never see again, but how much business do you lose over...
