Listen...I wanted to love this place. And maybe someday I will. But today, Saturday, 3.30.24, was not that day. We entered and given the fact that it's, what...Day 4 of being open?...I didn't expect too much in the service department. People are very friendly, but they're definitely still trying to figure out what to do behind the counter. It took a minute to figure out that we should order at the counter, then find a seat. That's fine...and it makes sense. Similar to Seabreeze in Jack London so we should have caught onto that. We placed our order, then found a little nook in the side room with a nice overview of the area, looking out to the north bay with the Balclutha in our view - gorgeous. We had a number card so they knew how to find us. The first thing that came were our beers. Hubby had ordered a hazy IPA & unfortunately they brought the wrong one. But it was an IPA so he just rolled with it. Mine was a mexican lager and it was just what I wanted. It's really cute that they've branded their beers in partnership with different breweries...
The food is where it fell down for us. Hubby got the 1/2 dozen oysters and felt they were lacking flavor. They weren't the salty, briny flavor bombs he's used to with fresh oysters. I got the lobster roll hot with butter and added caviar. I will give it up for the bun. It was perfectly done and seemed like the brioche that many feel is the only way to serve it. I'm not that particular on this item, as long as it's warm and buttery. The lobster itself was good enough...but there was just so very little of it. There is the option to add more for a lot more $$, but I wanted to get it the way it's most basic. And the caviar is absolutely unnecessary. For the amount you get at the price you pay, there's no need. It doesn't enrich the experience at all. Finally we did get an order of fries and they were probably the best part of the meal. Warm and crispy and flavorful.
Also, are we paying more in SF? The menus I've seen online are $25 for a lobster roll in the other locations. SF is paying $27, I believe. Just checking... I mean, are we really paying more than Santa Barbara? Okay...to wrap up...there's nothing to hate here, but there's nothing to make me want to...

Initially, I wanted to try out their lobster roll. My girlfriend at the time was full and didn't want anything to eat. Their service was quick and friendly. Did not wait long to receive my order. These guys are an amazing wingman. (You didn't hear it from me) Two lobster rolls had come out. At first, my girlfriend and I thought we had received a different customer's order and went back to the front and mentioned it. It seemed that they "accidentally" put in two orders, they agreed to split the roll.
Both my girlfriend and I got to try their Lobster roll and it was amazing. They did not short any lobster on the roll, the roll itself was toasted and buttered to perfection and the lobster extremely fresh. The masterpiece was topped with (I assume) Kosher Salt and came with a side of lemon. When everything came together it just worked, no amount of words could describe how delicious it was. I will spend the rest of my days reminiscing over the flavor and feeling of biting into that roll. There were also condiments, however, you could not top perfection. I hope to be back as soon as I can. Many thanks to the gentleman with golden locks for such an amazing experience, search for him...
Read moreNice and warm day and had a weekday off. Decided to head down here to try the lobster roll and enjoy the warm vibes.
To be fair, the last time I had a lobster roll was months ago at New England Lobster Company in Burlingame near the SF airport. That along with Woodhouse Fish Co. would be the places I go to for a good lobster roll.
Love the booth and aesthetics of this place and how you can watch the making of your seafood plates of deliciousness.
Caviar (snack)- love the taste on fresh hot chips and a dab of the crem franchise. Simply indulgent.
Linguine w/ clams- Was surprised at how good it was and it was my first time trying it
Lobster roll- good sized lobster roll with nice and fresh chunks of lobster. I added the uni but it definitely is very good on its own. The bread used was warm and rightly buttery. Not too expensive but definitely not cheap at 27 dollars!
Service was fast and quick. I will definitely return to try the lobster roll cold. Think this is a great place for locals and tourists alike. Parking can be found but not as easily. Great addition to the Wharf area and another place in SF to that yourself to a nice...
