The Original Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop So nice I had to have it twice! When my partner and I were planning our trip to San Fran, I knew there were a few places that I just had to revisit and this shop was one of them. The last time I visited San Fran was back in 2016, and although it wasn’t my first time in the Bay area, it was the first time that I got to explore Ghirardelli Square. And let me tell you, I fell in love with what they have to offer.
Let’s rewind. ⏪ Back in 2016, the ice cream sundae from the original Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop reinvigorated me after a long day of exploring. I think my friend and I walked some 11 miles around the city. By that point in the day, we were looking for rental bikes and stumbled upon the square. We got a sundae (not to split; one sundae for each of us). The chocolate in that creamy ice cream is just perfect. I’ve never had so many ingredients melt together so harmoniously in one cup. I do not recommend having the entire sundae for yourself, but after all the walking on a warm day, we needed it (like Spongebob needs water).
Fast forward to today ⏩ I’m so glad to report that this sundae still SLAPS. It slaps your taste buds, ya mama’s taste buds, ya best friend’s taste buds, whoever! It’s out of this world, and the Original Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop is a must visit if you’re taking a trip to San Francisco. I recommend getting a one cup sundae. It’ll be enough ice cream to really dig in but not enough that you experience a sweetness overload and want to sit down for the...

I then went over to talk to the assistant manager named Victoria or Veronica but she refused to make them to go. She then gave me 2 cups and told me to pour them myself to go. She was extending rude , and offer no customer service after i told her multiple times this was not my fault. I then told her that i wanted to just get a refund because at the end of the day I did pay $30 for something i did not want. She then continued to be sarcastic and told me that they dont offer any reinstatement that it was final sell LIKE it shows on the receipt . But that she was going to talk to her supervisor, and she was going to be back. After a few seconds she came back out to tell me that it was okay that she can remake them to go after speaking with her manager. Like what??? i dont understand why she couldnt just done that from the beginning?? And when i asked for her name. She very happily pointed to her name batch. Like shes done this before and it was ok. I really hate a power trip manager. Just because youre the manager doesnt give you the right to be rude to customers . Very disappointing. I will be calling...

Saved from demolition in 1962, the chocolate factory has been transformed to a popular shopping and dining destination, famous for its ice cream parlors run by the Ghirardelli Chocolate Company.
The bay side landmark several food options while it will be travesty if you skip dessert in the form of a milkshake, hot chocolate, brownies, cookies or hot fudge from one of three Ghirardelli stores; the Original Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop, Ghirardelli Chocolate Experience, and the Ghirardelli On-The-Go.
Heck, visit all three and get your chocolate fix! Here’s a recommended chocolate itinerary - enjoy a Ghirardelli’s World-Famous Hot Fudge Sundae while sitting in a replica San Francisco cable car at the ice cream shop near Larkin Street and Beach Street. Then, grab a free Ghirardelli Square and take in a breath-taking view of the bay at the Ghirardelli Chocolate Experience. Finally, grab a gift for someone (or yourself) before taking a calorie-burning stroll along the beaches of...
