Ghirardelli Square Parking Garage — Local services in San Francisco

I think that the parking validation is a scam that the parking company is running. After spending $50+ at Ghirardelli and getting our validation from the store (where the cashier oddly mentioned that any issues with the validation we needed to take up with the parking company). Less than 2 hours after arriving we found that our green validation ticket mysteriously didn’t work. There was a “helpful” attendant there who told us we had to go back up to the store to talk to them (meanwhile we are at the gate blocking the exit). Clearly this is a scam to get both us to pay to exit and get the validation fee from the store.

Refused to honor parking validation discount. We saw the signs posted everywhere and followed the directions and saved all of our receipts. When we went to pay at the machine, the person on the line told us to proceed to the gate and it would be taken care of there. Maybe safe, maybe not. Honestly, there's been so much crime and so many car window smashings that it's a toss up. This is a known tourist spot so it's an easy target.
