This place reminds me of the food stands in developing countries--good but unsanitary food. I am giving 1 star because my friend ate the roll cake I bought and got food poisoning.
There are a lot of pastries to choose from in this bakery. Some are really good tasting, while others are mediocre. If you don't mind the flies resting on the pastries, then I would recommend the mini pineapple bun, cream bun, and pineapple strudel. Those stored in the warming oven might be safer to eat, since flies (possibly) cannot get to them. These would include the regular sized pineapple bun and pork bun.
The Swiss Roll Cakes are good; but the quality is inconsistent. One day, the cakes could be soft and fluffy, with good amount of cream. The next day, the cakes could be dry and with very little cream.
Aside from the above mentioned, the staff handle the pastries roughly. On my second visit, I ordered about eight pastries. Either they were trying to save boxes or they were lazy, the staff packed all the pastries into one box. When I got home, the softer buns were so squished that they looked beyond sad--the cream bun's cream was all smushed.
The inside of the store is quite dim. I don't know how the staff appear throughout the day, but the few times I were there (usually mid-day or afternoon), they all looked tired, rushed, and overworked. Maybe it has to do with the fact that the bakery opens at 5:45am. That means, do not expect good customer service.
All in all, I have already blacklisted this bakery, and I would not recommend...
Read moreI was really disappointed with the quality and the service from this bakery.
I ordered my birthday cake two days before pickup. They totally forgot about my order. Then they rushed my cake as they didn't even bother to take off the leaves on the strawberries on my cake. I doubt they even washed fruit. Besides, the fruit tasted old and bad.
The staff there talks very rude. I am not asking for god level service, but I don't deserve the service they gave me as a customer. What's worse, they lied. When my boyfriend asked if there were forks for the cake, the staff said no when my boyfriend clearly saw that a customer before him got forks.
Also, I hate the "cash only" rule. Making money is not easy for anyone. But doing cash only so you can cheat on taxes? No no no. It is not even cheaper than the places that do contribute to taxes. (To be clear, i was looking for a Chinese bakery, and this was the only one i could find at the time. I didn't know they only accept cash until i got there. That's why i ended up getting a cake from them.)
It would be my last time ordering anything from this place. I would suggest you not go there either as we don't want to encourage dishonest behavior like this to...
Read moreI was in the area and stopped in cause it looked good. Decided to pickup a few things to try, mini mango mousse cake, mini mochi cake, strawberry shortcake slice, curry bun, curry puff, pork buns, cream horn, and a egg tart. The mousse has more flavor and better texture that other accomplished bakery's. The curry bun was delicious. Curry puff was ok, prefer the bun. BBQ pork bun, cream horn, egg tart are good. My son liked the strawberry shortcake, so I ended up ordering a 8" round strawberry cake for his birthday party. The strawberry were huge and had a lot of strawberries in the filling. We also picked up more curry buns cause they were so good. Also got some custard filled pineapple bun and black sesame bun with almonds. Everything was outstanding, ton of black sesame...
