Golden China Restaurant — Restaurant in San Francisco

I asked the salesperson at the hardware store on Ocean Ave what was the best Chinese restaurant in the area; since we were new in town. He pointed down the street and said Golden China......so my son and I gave it a try.

We walked in and were greeted by the friendly owner. I mentioned that her place was referred to us; and she proceeded to tell us that they had been in business over 30 yrs...same location. She was extremely warm and gracious.

I ordered a combination plate and my son had General chicken and we split a sweet and sour soup. We received large portions of everything and the food was very, very tasty.

Ironically we had tried almost every Chinese restaurant in the area but somehow missed this one until today.

My son said what I was already thinking.....this will be our 'go to' Chinese restaurant...

To be honest, the food here wasn’t that great. After we ate, we waited 20 minutes until they asked us if we wanted a box for our food. And there was only one other couple next to us. No one checked up on us at all. So in short, I didn’t think they deserved a tip (we even had 3 different servers wait on us), and I left no tip as we weren’t well attended and waited 20 minutes to get a box of food. Another 10 to get our check and pay. After we left, our “waitress” had the nerve to chase us down on the street and say “you forgot MY tip” she didn’t take our order, give us the tea, take our check, or give us boxes. The only thing she did was she bring our food. Idk how she thought she deserved a tip and yet had the audacity to demand, even chasing us down outside. Never...

This place is consistent with making delicious Chinese food at extremely affordable prices. Plus, they always serve a mountain of food whether you dine-in or order to go. Customer service is great! Juan remembers the orders of returning customers, and that makes me feel appreciated and understand she's dedicated to providing the best customer service.
