What a great little cocktail bar near to Union Square. We were a mixed group of friends looking for a quick drink together before a show at the Curan Theatre across the street. We wandered into the Westin looking for a bar and were directed to the Clock Bar, nearer to the Union Square/St. Francis Hotel entrance. It's a cute lounge, very upscale feeling without being pretentious. Great place to meet for a date or an after hours business meeting.
Our server was incredibly kind and competent. She caught a crack in our glass and had it changed out right away.
Our cocktails were excellent and I would come back for these anytime. They were inventive enough and all around $15-17, which is not awful for a hotel bar in a touristy area. They all tasted great. We had the: (1) El Beso Ardiente, which was a lovely slightly spicy, sour flavor (2) Curiouser and Curiouser, which was kinda berry and gingerish. Towards the end this was kind of sweet, but an ice cube in it made it great. (3) White Rabbit, which was sweet and light, but still had some complexity. (4) The Woman in Red, which sounds like a light champagne drink but came out more like a wonderfully-bubbly and ginger cocktail. This was my personal favorite of the 4.
I'd eagerly come back here.

They have a full bar, and a decent wine list. They have a list of signature cocktails, but no beer on tap. Only bottles and cans. Most of the beer offerings are locally brewed and the bartenders seem to know a lot about each one. If you’re looking for a particular style, just ask, and they can describe each one to you.
BUT, it’s pretty pricey... Bottled beers are between 7 (for the Coors light) and 9 dollars for the craft brews “Signature” cocktails are $16 “Specialty” cocktails are $17 Wine ranges from $12 to $40 per glass. Full bottles range from $44 to $200 - OUCH!
The service was great and very friendly.
There are a few food items on the menu. Mostly appetizers, but they also have a burger, a tuna poke, a grilled veggie wrap and two...
Read moreI ended up here after trying to go to a ramen place on Geary St where the line was too long and I didn't want to wait.
I saw that Tadu had an excellent Yelp rating and thought that having dinner here would be a suitable backup to the ramen place. As I started to walk closer and closer to Tadu I realized that I was entering the Tenderloin since it started becoming progressively more scary as I was walking towards the restaurant.
Tadu seemed to be almost at the boundary point of the scariness, so I decided to go anyways even though it definitely crossed my mind to turn back and walk out of the neighborhood for safety reasons.
Tadu is an extremely small restaurant, so I suppose I was lucky that I found a small table that was shoved in the corner and could barely fit me. It was definitely packed in the small restaurant, but at least there wasn't a wait...
