about what you would expect from a mexican restaurant in SF on mission. outside? vibes not so good but cute inside. not sure what's going on with the service but they said we could order at the counter or get free samples at the table? but like what would the free samples even have been like idk maybe i missed out on a free taco or something. the world may never know. guy at the front was sweet and helpful although he kept adding cheese to my friends burrito and she didn't want cheese. like it wasn't a big deal but she just didn't want cheese. all good though the food came out great! i'm vegan so i'm not gonna make too many comments on the food because everyone knows meat is where mexican cuisine shines but it was a solid burrito overall. filled to the gills like she was SPILLIN but you know i'd much rather have a mess of a plate then leave a restaurant hungry. was expecting spanish rice but got cilantro rice instead and lemme tell you i am NOT complaining she was buss. beans were a little...wet?...imo but they were refried and also delicious so again, what can i complain about. my carnivorous friend ordered birria tacos as well as regular chicken tacos and horchata (run up my tab ig??) and enjoyed all three. definitely think the quesabirria is the highlight but again! i don't eat meat!!!! so who am i to say!!!!!!!!!!! anyways. will i be back? tbh yeah. it's like super close to my house, has great hours, and was just about right for the price. PLUS you get free chips and none of that costco sh1t (no shade to costco though love you ron
Read moreA true hidden gem in San Francisco. Thought we would try a new place for dinner, and found one of the most authentic Mexican restaurants in the Bay Area. From the housemade Mole to the flavorful salsa's and the delicate flan, not one note was missed. Freshly made chips are served as you are seated with three delicious salsa options. All three are great, but the blended Mango Habanero Salsa is both spicy and flavorful. We tried the Steak and Cheese empanadas which were tender with just the right cook on the dough. The Sopes were spot on, we tried Steak and Chorizo which really hit the spot. But the best part of the meal was the Enchiladas Divorciadas which came with one green and one mole enchilada. We also added a full Chile Relleno to the dish, which was complimented with refried beans and rice, which were not heavy or overflavored and complimented the whole dish very well. I can't believe I ate the entirety of this enormous dish, but the flavor was just so wonderful... I almost wanted to lick the plate. We finished off by trying the Chorizos and the Flan. The Flan was creamy and delicious. Even the housemade Horchata and Jamaica were stand up drinks that were refreshing compliments to the delicious meal. If you are looking for fantastic, and authentic Mexican cuisine, you cannot go wrong with this place. We will be back again, and again, and again...

My boyfriend and I visited Cocina Mamá Cholita’s on a whim seeing the little grand opening sign from across the street. As we entered, the ambiance was immaculately clean, warm, and inviting! We were offered complimentary nachos and salsa on the house as we entered! And wow, everything was so freshly made. I loved the mango habanero sauce✨✨ The restroom was gender-fluid and neutral which was thoughtful and inclusive. It was also so cute and sparkling clean! The talented chef offered us cute sampler plates which really helped with ordering. I spontaneously ordered empanadas and my boyfriend wanted the mole. Everything was just perfect. The food was made with so much quality and care that it was soothing to the stomach. We’re most definitely coming back when...
