I had been so excited to try this restaurant, we had heard such great things about it. However, we were very disappointed. First, coming in the waiter seemed to be in a grumpy mood, didn’t look like he wanted to be there. We came in right as they had opened and were maybe the only third set of customers there. We ordered coffee, the cafe de olla. It is the worst cafe de olla I have had in my life. Typically, in my experience a good cafe de olla doesn’t need anything added to taste good. This one tasted horrible, almost burnt and old, we decided to add creamer and sugar but no amount would make it taste better. For our dishes we ordered the chilaquiles verdes and the huevos divorciados. They charged 5 extra dollars to add chicken to the chilaquiles, that would’ve been fine had it not been a huge pile of just very cold and dry shredded chicken, that had some odd black bits of stuff in it. The sauce in the chilaquiles was not very tasty, and neither was the rice. I also keep seeing so many restaurant trying to add sour cream to their dishes, it’s unnecessary, thankfully it was placed on the side. The only good tasting thing in this dish was probably the beans. It was overall very...

This restaurant is a nice spot to eat outside of the usual tourist areas in the Mission. However, it’s not as authentic as it used to be. The staff is generally friendly, except for one server/host named Vladimir. Unfortunately, he was quite rude to a guest I had invited. When my older friend asked about a dish, Vladimir responded sarcastically, saying, “How about you read the menu next time?”

I had recommended huarache, a traditional Mexican dish that should be tender in the center and fried to a crisp on the outside. The huarache, which are typically handmade and fresh, were hard and stale – likely because the dish isn’t ordered often, and the quality has declined.

To his credit, Vladimir offered to comp the meal, but the experience remained uncomfortable as he never apologized for the food and continued with a quick-witted, dismissive attitude. My friend explained that he couldn’t read the menu, which is why I suggested a dish I usually enjoy. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning or recommending this place, as Vladimir’s attitude needs...

I was walking to this place and wanted to eat there but it was near closing time. I was reading some reviews while walking for tips. Some people say they make great mole, so I walked faster because I love mole. I have been constantly disappointed with some mole experiences around here, so I was keen on trying this one.

I got the chicken with red mole to go. I used their restroom and when I finished, my order was just ready. As expected from an efficient, no-frill Mexican kitchen. That was a positive sign.

Got home after about 3 hours. Took a bite from the now-cold mole and, wow, this is exactly what I was looking for. A complex, well-balanced mole (not that easy to find). It was kinda addictive and I finished half of my dish cold. The chicken was fine and not very tender and the tortilla was ok, but as a whole, it was a very satisfying dish, especially when you mix a little bit of black beans with the mole and chicken and eat it with the tortilla. Buen...
