After a long day of driving, my husband and I were ready to head the hotel we originally booked online. As we check in around 9:30 pm they informed us that we had to be 21+ to check in. Huge bummer as we are 18 and 19. Trying to find parking and find a decently priced hotel (no more than $200 a night), with parking that wasn’t $30+, was stressful. We came across the Columbus Inn. Desperate and tired, we were losing hope and were about to settle for sleeping in the car. We called the Columbus Inn as our last resort, and it checked all our boxes! The kindest gentlemen named Tony helped us reserve our room over the phone. He was very kind and organized, and let us know all the information we needed. There was FREE parking for hotel guests, which is amazing. If you tried going into a parking garage, or even other hotels, good luck spending less than $50! He accommodated us for a regular room with a king sized bed that felt clean and comfortable. The room itself felt clean, with no major areas of concern. The bathroom has some signs of molding on the shower curtain, but that was the only thing that wasn’t ideal. It’s a quiet hotel with a perfect location by the Fisherman’s Wharf (another plus that you’re just blocks by the water!). In the room we had, we got a view of the Ferris wheel. All in all, we were happy to have a place to stay that felt like it welcomed us. It was about $160 for the night, which was on the higher side for us, but for the location, room, service, and parking, I think it was worth it. I learned that in San Francisco, you just have to raise your budget...
Read moreThis was our second time staying at the Columbus Motor Inn. This is a terrific no frills hotel with friendly staff ( Tony and Hector), free parking, clean rooms, and in a terrific neighborhood, within walking distance to Fisherman’s Wharf, Ghirardelli’s, Lombard, Street, etc. The rooms are clean, there are two off street parking lots, plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Check out Pat’s for breakfast (mention Columbus Motor Inn & receive 10% discount). Highly recommend Piccolo Forno for great Italian!||Prices are reasonable for SF. * Safety Tip, we haven’t been to SF in over 15 years. There have been many reviews about crime, homeless, etc. I found the city generally clean, and not what some people are portraying it to be. Full disclosure- I am from LA and used to crime and homeless. Remember, you are in a city- use common sense, walk with purpose, don’ keep your head buried in your cell phone, lock your vehicle, don’t leave valuables. Yes, you will see homeless, but the city looks very good. I will definitely stay at the Columbus Motor Inn again. - Check out the classic, old school, nightclub- Bimbos 365- directly next door. - - Wear comfortable shoes and always bring a jacket. SF has almost daily fog and low clouds that come in around late afternoon, early evening. Even in Summer, the city...
Read moreSix girlfriends from the Charlotte area stayed at the Columbus Motor Inn for 4 nights in October. Most of us had not been to SF in many years, so wanted to make sure we would be in not only a safe area, but one where we could walk to good restaurants and area attractions. What a great decision we made! This hotel is in a wonderful locality and we felt very safe. Prior to our visit, I called the hotel with a few questions. I spoke with Tony each time. He was delightful to say the least, so helpful and gave me good advice on restaurants to which we could walk. Three of us shared a suite and it was perfect! Our room was very clean and plenty big enough for the 3 of us! We had rented a large van, but we always found a parking space (with the help of hotel staff!) in the hotel's enclosed lot - a special amenity. I wish I could remember the name of the woman who checked us all in upon arrival...exhausted from the flight too! She was remarkable, so efficient and we were in our rooms in no time! Although we were on Columbus Avenue and there were lots of busses, trucks etc., the noise did not bother us at all! Kudos to the owner(s) of this hotel - I would recommend your hotel to anyone who asked. Please give Tony and staff our regards and thanks. I think he will...
