As much as I love to explore different bars in the city, it is always incredibly disappointing when you go to an establishment to have fun and you find out that you were just ripped off.
I was actually pretty excited to check out Wildhawk as I had this bar on my list of places to check out for a while.
My friend ordered a couple "basic" drinks (rum and coke + gin and tonic) prior to me ordering two cocktails. He had mentioned in passing that it was weird that they had charged a different amount for the first round of drinks versus the second round (note: for the exact same drinks taken by the same male bartender). I do not know if this was a case of assuming people who get drinks do not take a look at the alcohol price or what but this is super strange.
I experienced it for myself when I took care of the third drink. I took the tab for the third drink and was surprised when I found out that it was $48 not including tip for drinks that should have been around $30. (Note: nothing additional was noted on the receipt). Definitely felt ripped off.
For that third round, I had ordered an Espresso Martini ($17) and a spritz ($11) but somehow the total came out to over $50 total for two drinks.
I am disappointed with the shady practices conducted by the staff at Wildhawk and I think it's important to warn people about these price differences, not explicitly mentioned on their menu.
Quite disappointed for my first time experience and not sure if I would go to or recommend this...

The decor of the bar is a blend of classic and modern elements, with plush velvet chairs, vintage light fixtures, and a striking art deco-inspired bar. The result is a stylish yet comfortable setting that is perfect for enjoying a cocktail or two.
The cocktails at Wildhawk are expertly crafted and use high-quality ingredients. The menu features a mix of classic and contemporary cocktails, as well as a rotating selection of seasonal drinks. The house specialty, the Jungle Bird, is a must-try, with its blend of rum, pineapple, lime, and Campari. The bar also has a great selection of wine and beer. The only gripe is the Moscow Mule which looked great but had way too much ice and was not strong at all.
The service at Wildhawk is friendly and attentive, with staff that are knowledgeable about the cocktails and happy to make recommendations. The bar can get crowded on weekends, but the atmosphere is lively and convivial, with a mix of locals and visitors alike.
Overall, Wildhawk is a standout bar in San Francisco, with its chic ambiance, expertly crafted cocktails, and friendly service. If you're looking for a spot to enjoy a night out with friends or a romantic evening, Wildhawk is definitely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreInstead of planning out the evening, we wandered the Mission on a cold December night, deciding to choose a cocktail bar purely out of chance. Two strangers overheard us, and recommended Wildhawk. What a delight it was!
Wildhawk is tucked in between Guerrero and Valencia, so it's a little bit out of the commotion. The atmosphere is great, with a chic interior that's approachable but stylish. And, most importantly, the cocktails are top notch. I tried the spiked cider (excellent) and my boyfriend had one of their house martinis, which was astonishingly smooth and delicious. I struck up conversation with the bartender, wondering how exactly he made the smoothest martini I'd even sipped. He was super knowledgeable and told us all about the different types of Vermouth they use (it's Wildhawk's specialty), and gave us some great recommendations for setting up our own bar at home.
This was a unique bar experience in that it was super easy to strike up a conversation with anyone and make friends. The vibe was just right, the crowd was chill, and the drinks were on point. It's so good, I almost want to keep...
