In this unassuming building lies a really special experience. The sushi chef has 15 years of quality experience. Emphasis on quality, having worked with some of the great sushi chefs in Japan. Our server was so kind and welcoming - she made us immediately feel comfortable after being relatively disoriented flying in from the midwest (and recovering from adult beverages the nights prior on the two additional times we came back). The chef shows care, expertise and knows how to purchase fish in our discussions. All the qualities you want in your sushi chef. The unexpected here were the vegetarian options for sushi rolls and the sushi rice itself is so perfectly done everything there is worth trying. The most notable vegetarian option was the kampyo - prepared from squash skin. It had so much sea and umami flavors on my palate I actually told my vegetarian girlfriend to stop eating it immediately, it must be a type of fish I hadn't tried before. Of course, it was not a mistake on their end.

On one occasion, we went back and they recognized us with a warm welcome; offering our favorite saki and a decently sized free appetizer. Which we didn't expect but did very much so appreciate. This was one of the first restaurants we went to. With others including up to 3 Michelin stars, but we chose to come back here for our final meal before leaving town - that should say something.

This is the kind of place that teaches you how to appreciate sushi, ruins other favorites in your hometown and at the same time you're thankful to have had the...

A true gem in the Wharf district of San Francisco.

My wife and I love to find small local places to dine when we travel, and the hotel concierge suggested this unassuming eatery for "really good sushi". Grandeho's Kamekyo did not disappoint. It's not cheap, but the rolls were fresh and service was prompt. Everything we wanted from a casual night out.

There are "hipper" places, and if that's your thing, you might be disappointed. That's definitely not my thing, though, and it was an easy 2 block walk from our hotel located almost on top of Fisherman's Wharf.

It's worth noting that they do NOT participate in Monterrey Bay Aquarium's "seafood watch" program, so you can get some fish there that are on the "avoid" list. This is probably no surprise to folks who know about the relationship of the Japanese to Pacific Ocean fishing, but if that's not a problem for you, it was an amazing evening. If it is a problem for you, you can always take the SeaFood Watch app with you and refrain from ordering those items.

Overall, we had a wonderful evening of fresh fish. I highly recommend a visit if you are in the area and in search of...

We got 2 rolls of sushi--the Cherry Blossom Roll (salmon, cucumber, avocado and tuna) and the Bay Roll (scallop, crab meat, wasabi sauce, salmon and lemon). Both were delicious! I took off the lemon rinds that were on mine but it didn't take away any of the lemon flavor. I loooved the sushi! The chicken teriyaki was good. The tofu teriyaki was, according to my mom, "excellent," and she doesn't use that word to describe food often. My parents also ordered the tofu soup, which they said was good, but we were so full at that point that they could only eat one bite!

My family absolutely loved this restaurant, we ended up going twice! We felt very taken care of and well attended to. We celebrated our parents' anniversary the second time we went and they gave us a super cute fruit plate with little cubes of oranges and a really amazing duck made out of an apple! This place is wonderful and we highly...

Oh my! What a jewel box of a restaurant! We adored eating at this restaurant. It is tucked into the side of the hill in a residential area and while it is a bit tiny on the inside it is huge in flavor. My teenagers said it gave them the warm feeling from having food made by their grandmother. I believe we were honored to have one of the owners as our server which made all of us feel quite special, since she was absolutely lovely. The fish in our sushi was extremely fresh and tasty. The side salads with entrees were beautiful to look at and eat—freshly sliced thin bits of crispy apple and small chunks of sweet fresh mango with a light tangy mayo/citrus dressing. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for fabulous Asian food at reasonable prices in a cozy, unique setting!

Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Atmosphere 10/10 First time visiting this restaurant. Really good food. Also the place is chill and has a good vibe. I ordered a bento box tonkatsu with sashimi. If you are looking for a good place to rest while eating Japanese food, I highly recommend this place. They also sell boba tea. Most of the people come and go with Boba tea. I noticed that most of the people order taro boba tea. I will visit again tomorrow for boba tea. I highly recommend getting the bento box so you can try variety of food.
