High Treason — Restaurant in San Francisco

Unco Franks lunch plate Hawaiian food was so good I had to get on here and write a review. I was blown away by the quality and level of flavor that was here (I got the Mochiko Chicken Plate - $15). Made my day! Chicken was crispy, flavorful, and juicy - with a crunch that held up to the tangy sauce and togarashi. Rice was dusted with furikake and cooked perfectly. Then there was the addition of the mac salad and a small green salad with an excellent dressing. Everything was on point! I inquired right away when they were open again so I could return. I really want to like High Treason but I have been several times and left disappointed each time. First, service has never been good, once leaving after 10 minutes of being ignored (a party of 4). They also do not have a pinot noir on their menu (and no, a burgundy is not a substitute for a pinot - which they offer every time). If you like non-california wines, this might be the place for you. When I have gotten service, it has been enjoyable, one night at the bar we even got great food, recommendations, and tasted several wines. Vinyl records and pet nats - what more could one ask for? I noted that the wine buyer/somm here has a sophisticated nose; stocking TWO hard-to-find/semi discrete producers of cool climate wine. I was impressed with the inclusion of Mountain Tops Pinot Noir and Ochota Barrels from the Adelaide Hills in their offerings. Bonus points for featuring a Victorian Pinot, as well.
