I’ve never been treated this bad at a supposedly PC “hipster” establishment. It’s wretched enough to employ a rude, selfish, racist male bartender who only cares about himself. I shouldn’t have tipped but thought the tip was going to another bartender who opened my tab, and I had no problem with her, and she didn’t toss my card at me rudely like him. All I wanted was to close my tab and told him my last name and he said something like “multiple people are on my card and another person is checking out and it’s already closed out” so he couldn’t close my tab. I was on my own and to be frank didn’t completely understand what he told me (I thought someone took away the whole card container to close another person’s tab so my card was momentarily unavailable) and he didn’t provide further explanation when prompted by my “I don’t follow you.” As it turned out, he just assumed someone with a similar last name was sharing my card with me. I just waited, waited until he went through the card container and located mine, which was filed under my first name by the other bartender. He tossed it away at me as if he’s upset because of the “painful, timeconsuming (it took him less than five seconds)” work he had to go through. Beware of this guy if you happen to visit this disgusting Jim Crow-era throwback garbage bar. He even looks like a Burning Man leftover with a Capitol rioter vibe, lol. He was self-righteous, rude and unapologetic throughout, which was quite shocking. I didn’t call him out on it because I thought I might want to visit this bar again for some shows, but now I don’t. You racist scumbag, you know who you are. You’re a total disgrace to...
Read moreSince I am such a knockout, I had to check this bar out. Love the location - 29th & mission near some great restaurants and other good bars. I arrived at 6pm - a prompt start to Friday happy hour and the place was EMPTY. But the bartender was great and we chatted for a bit while I guzzled my Root Beer Float with Vodka and extra cherries. So good. Turns out there is Bingo on thursday nights and the Tamale Lady usually stops by on Wednesdays. Good to know.
Friends arrived later and we caught up and chatted with background beats that were very nice. The bar wasn't super crowded when we left at 9pm to get food, but looked like it was a hot spot for the locals. DJ was setting up for the night when we left - with an entourage of like 50 ppl. Guess that is...
Read moreFun, active environment and wonderful staff make this neighborhood bar with a tiny stage into a happening kind of place. Don't let the painted floors and bathroom graffiti get to you. The club and its bathrooms are clean and well stocked. The music sounded great. Although they don't serve food, they allow you to bring food in from the neighboring restaurants. Just within the immediate vicinity of the Knockout, on the same block, I found Thai, Chinese, Mexican, Peruvian, Italian, El Salvadoran, pizza, American, Vietnamese and probably more that I didn't notice. The club has a dance floor and ample booth seating. I was there to hear a band but enjoyed every minute...
