We worked with Blue Plate for our wedding, and we could not have asked for a better experience. From the very beginning, David (our manager and main point of contact) was incredibly responsive, organized, and helpful. He set up our tasting, guided us through the menu selection process, and was an absolute lifesaver in the week leading up to the wedding. Having him as a consistent and reliable point of contact made the whole process so much smoother.
On the day of the wedding, Adrienne, our event lead, made everything run seamlessly. She kept the flow of service on track, made sure we never had to worry about a thing, and was so kind and attentive throughout the evening.
The food itself was absolutely fantastic! Our guests couldn’t stop talking about it. Chefs Rylan and Elliot created dishes that were both delicious and beautifully presented. We chose a family-style meal, and the service was flawless. Guests loved the experience of sitting down together and sharing dishes, and Blue Plate executed it perfectly. Throughout the night, no one was ever hungry. Every detail was handled, from appetizers through dessert. One of the highlights was the build-your-own cheesecake bar. It ended up being one of the most talked-about parts of the evening, with everyone enjoying the chance to create their own dessert.
What we appreciated most was how David and the Blue Plate team took our rough ideas and turned them into a clear, well-executed vision. They made sure we fully understood how the food would be prepared and served, allowing us to experience it beforehand exactly as our guests would on the big day. We can’t recommend Blue Plate highly enough. They were professional, thoughtful, and truly a joy to work with—and they helped make our wedding meal one of the highlights of the entire...
Read moreWe had such a cute evening at Blue Plate. Our first interactions was a very pleasant conversation with the hostess who worked to find us a beautiful seat in the backyard garden. The back area was heated and we felt wrapped in a warm bubble from the cities chilly air. Our waitron was very personable, and made some delicious wine suggestions. The wine menu felt like unique offerings with a wide variety of geos to consider. I particularly enjoyed the French sparkling rosé.
We ordered two apps, the mac and cheese and a charred octopus. The max and cheese was phenomenal. A very smooth creamy cheesy goat cheese with just the right ratio of cheese to noodle. The octopus was wonderfully cooked, not too rubbery, really allowing for the flavor to come through. The cauliflower was a nice pairing I wouldn’t have considered.
For our main courses, I had planned to get the fried chicken, but walking through the restaurant there were several dishes of the linguine and clam and it looked to die for. Very glad we ordered this, the noodles had a very full seafood flavoring from the delicious broth they were settled in. Our second dish was the gnocchi, because I love gnocchi and order it every time I can. The waitron mentioned it had just been added to the menu today. It was a very fun dish as the gnocchi had a crusted finish and sat in a beautifully colorful succotash.
We shared a desert of the butterscotch pudding, a very satisfying finish to the meal. It came with two pieces of butterscotch, and switching between the textures was an enjoyable experience.
Finished every bite and will be excited to...
Read moreI am not sure why this restaurant received such high reviews. Dined here last night and ordered:
The squid was an unusual dish at an American restaurant. I tried it. It was okay. Nothing unique/special about the dish. The squid had a "fishy" taste? Not as refreshing as the grilled squid I have had at Japanese restaurants.
Now...the entrees. EVERYTHING WAS SALTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The meatloaf, OMG, probably had A CUP of salt in it! I am not kidding. I couldn't eat it without mixing it with the mashed potato that came with the plate. The mashed potato was pretty good tho. And the bouillabaisse (a bowl broth with seafood) was buttery, salty, and sour. The flavor was really strong I could not handle a lot. The salmon in the broth was good but that was about it since the broth soaked into the muscles :(. The bread that came with the dish was topped with butter and some cream sauce, had a very weird combo/taste to it. The meal overall was very heavy. Our dinner came out to be $60 and for that much, I was hoping to at least get some quality food!!! :(
And....the service was very slow. VERY VERY SLOW. With so many restaurants to choose from in SF, I am sad that I wasted stomach...
