For my 51st birthday we were in SF and I wanted to try something new. I had never had Peruvian food before and the reviews were great and the menu looked delicious. I ordered a dish with sliced beef French fries onions and tomatoes. It came with rice. It was amazing and the portion size was huge. I ate half and had half left for lunch the next day. I ordered the garlic fried chicken appetizer and it was crunchy and a garlic lovers dream. I also had a glass of sangria. I only drink on special occasions and this was stronger and better tasting than others I have tried. My 17 year old son ordered the steak with fried plantains and rice. Also could only eat half. He eats steak medium rare and it was done perfectly. He was pleased that the inside was just right but warm unlike other steaks he has had that were very cool on the inside. Read moreWe dined at this peruvian restaurant as a family with the hopes it would reflect the culinary excellence my country of origin provides for this wonderful city. Unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. The so called food, lacked the authenticity and the flavors and freshness we were expecting as peruvian people with much background in this culinarily realm. Several dishes were bland and underwhelming. To make matters worse, we noticed discrepancies in our bill, a 25% CHARGE ON TAXES... unjustifiable, treachery at its finest, especially for the regulars that come around this establishment. We value supporting peruvian establishments, but this was a straightforward let down. I genuinely hope they take feedback from my comment here today, and improve their ethics, quality, and their integrity of their billing practices...
Read moreAs I am Peruvian, I have a very high bar I hold all Peruvian cusine too. Of all the "peruvian" restaurants in San Francisco, this is the only one I would consider authentic. Authentic meaning if you went to Lima, you should expect these kind of dishes. That said, everything here is delicious! If you are new to Peruvian cuisine I recommend the papa a la huancaina and aji de gallina. For drink, try the piso sour or the chicha morada. Portions are big, so you will not leave hungry. There is a wide variety of dishes to choose from, so you may need to come back several times to try everything. I can't say enough positive things about this restaurant (I have been a loyal customer for 7+ years). This is as good as...
