Sorry to leave a mediocre review but unfortunately this bakery just doesn’t hit the mark for me. It’s really a shame since we are walking distance and were super excited to have a new bakery to go to, but most likely will continue to go to our tried and true places even if they are farther and not walking distance (top favorites tartine, ariscault, Jane’s). Their prices were even steeper than those aforementioned bakeries which I think justify higher prices. We got the savory scone which was more of a bread consistency than scone and was sweet as well, I suspect there was use of quite some sugar, and the breakfast bread which was also sweet and was pricey for the small size. Of course each item was labeled with price so it’s not as though we didn’t know the price before purchasing, but the surprise was that the baked goods did not meet our bar for exemplary bakery so the extra high prices were for sure not worth it. Also, I didn’t even feel like trying the $10 ones simply because I was pretty sure that even though they looked delicious, there was no way they would taste yummy enough to justify the $10 price. The chagamatcha was flavorful but again, a small cup for $8 which is more like a $10 beverage after tax and tip. Never again. The display case itself was cute. There is no indoor seating, just the ordering counter, but there were several tables and chairs on the sidewalk or concrete benches. Staff was friendly though on slower side, line moved quite slowly to the point that someone commented that they are definitely a new business and haven’t...
Read moreI really like supporting local businesses, but I can’t recommend this place.
This is a very pricey grab and go pastry shop with some outdoor tables on a quiet street. Unfortunately the pastry did not deliver. I was there around 2 PM (they close at 4 PM) and there wasn’t a whole lot of options. Basically the choices were miniature, chocolate canelé, chocolate cookie, cheesecake , Pandan love knot, a savory pastry, and focaccia. I had the pandan love knot - it was basically a plain sweet bread with a small amount of pandan and some chocolate bits $8. If it was actually good, it would’ve been worth the money spent, but since it was rather plain tasting with bready texture. The answer is NO!
The pictures posted on this listing are deceiving. I expected to see more of those things. It’s supposed to be a French pastry shop, so what went wrong here?
This place is quite expensive $7 for a medium sized cookie, $12 for a slice of cheesecake, you must be...
Read moreThis is one of the most underrated Bay Area bakeries! They have a takeout location in the Mission, and they recently opened a second location in Potrero Hill with some outdoor seating.
I discovered my love of cannelés when I visited Bordeaux many years ago, and the ones here are on par. They get the extra-caramelized, crunchy exterior right, contrasted with a soft, custardy inside. The vanilla-rum flavor is great as well.
The buckwheat brownie is another favorite of mine — so fudgy with contrasting cocoa nibs, chocolate bits, and naturally gluten free. Some other hits are the lavender rose bun with pull-apart sugary layers, and the popular passion fruit almond tart.
They do a few savory items like the breakfast bread with sundried tomato and aged cheddar, and a fluffy Castelvetrano olive focaccia.
I rarely see pistachio milk offered at cafes, but they have it here. I enjoyed it in...
