Lucca Food Deli & Wine Shop — Restaurant in San Francisco

The first time I ordered from this deli, it was delicious! I ordered thru DoorDash. Beautifully put together porchetta sandwich, delicious chocolate brownie and potato salad. Everything couldn't have been better! I ordered thru DoorDash again last night...7/14/25. First , they forgot to put the brownie in the bag(I called the store. They did forget) DoorDash did refund me for that.... I didn't open the sandwich until after I hung up with Lucca....the sandwich was Mortadella, onion and lettuce on Dutch Crunch w/Mayo. Pesto, mustard. The condiments were heavy. Sloppy, if you will. AND, instead of the mortadella being nicely sliced like it should've been, there was 1 inch thick cut chunks of mortadella on the sandwich!!!! Who in the hell makes a sandwich like this?(YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE) you should be ashamed of yourself to serve that to anyone. Never again!!! I was willing to forgive the brownie incident until I saw the sandwich. I did not order heavy condiments, I ordered 3 condiments and you applied them heavily....and if you had sliced mortadella on hand why was there one inch wide chunks of mortadella on my sandwich? It was like you sliced a wide chunk of mortadella and cut it up on my sandwich. Please do better for...

An employee was hacking his lungs out in the store. As we walked in, the same employee was walking out for a smoke. We approached a lady who was eating her own sandwich right over the sandwich station getting her crumbs everywhere. No problem, we won't be having the toppings from that side of the station. She then tells us to wait while she gets the sandwich chef to come make the sandwich. Turns out it was the lung hacking guy who was out for a smoke. I was expecting him to wash his hands but all he did was squeeze a bit of hand sanitizer. Well at least he put on some fresh gloves before making the sandwich otherwise I would've walked out. I ordered the dutch crunch and I gotta say it tasted like the bag was left open all night. It was so stale. The toppings inside were good though. This place really fell off. I now have a new baseline for my new favorite roast beef sandwich. He was incredibly friendly as he made my roast beef on sliced sourdough with jack cheese and everything except onions. He toasted the bread and melted the cheese and it was super yummy. I got a veggie on a wheat roll and my husband really enjoyed it.

I was initially taken aback since it felt like I was walking into a corner liquor store. I quickly realized that it is a beloved shop to the neighbors who were all greeted by name. They had all sorts of things for purchase and it was clean, and well stocked.

I will definitely be going back when we are next in the neighborhood.

P.S. it appears to be owned and operated by a husband and wife team who were really nice...
