Magical Donuts — Restaurant in San Francisco

Not from the area, had to be with someone at the hospital down the street a few days. Walked down to Paklab for a burger one night and saw the donut shop. Couldn't wait to come back the next morning for donuts! A fantastic variety for a little truck!!! The custard filled croissants were DREAMY!!!!!! That was the first thing I ate. The croissant had the perfect flakiness but didn't fall apart, and the custard was sweet but not too sweet. Per-fec-tion!! We've had donuts from hundreds of places and these were THE. BEST. Sometimes donuts leave a greasy film on the roof of your mouth, or you taste sugar and old grease. Not these. They were so amazingly fresh!! The couple that owns/runs the truck was friendly and genuine. If I lived nearby, I'd go there all the time. Something about the unique, open environment (surrounded by big city professional buildings), the bay morning chill in the air, the friendly folks that welcomed me. First, let’s talk cake donuts. These golden rings of perfection were a revelation, especially when dunked in coffee. It’s as if they were born for this sacred ritual! The texture? Just dense enough to soak up the coffee without falling apart, and the flavor? Pure magic.

And don’t even get me started on the raised donuts. Light, fluffy, and cloud-like, they felt like edible happiness. One bite and you’re floating. The glazed one in particular? Chef’s kiss!

To top it all off, the prices are wonderfully reasonable—so much so that you’ll have no guilt about grabbing “just one more” (or three).

The people working there were incredibly friendly and helpful in the decision-making process.

This review is long overdue! We've been coming to Magical Donuts since they opened, and they've become a regular part of our lives. We always joke that we're the night crew since we usually swing by in the evenings, and it's become this comforting little ritual we look forward to.

Me, my husband, and our toddler son all absolutely love their donuts! They're ridiculously good--soft, fluffy, and somehow still fresh even after a couple of days (if we can manage not to eat them all right away).

But what really keeps us coming back isn't just the donuts--it's Tomoko, Simon, and Seika (and their son when he visited!). They're the sweetest people and make the whole experience even better. You can tell how much care they put into everything.
