Channel Street Dog Park — Attraction in San Francisco

For full transparency, I don't own a dog. I went there to meet a friend that has a dog. This is a cool park for dog owners. It's got a double gated entrance to decrease the risk of an accidental escape. All astroturf, with benches to sit at, a water fountain for humans and dogs. There is even a faux fire hydrant in the astroturf for dogs to relieve themselves. The thing that didn't sit well with me are some dog owners don't watch their dogs closely. One dog pooped right near us and nobody came to pick it up. Finally another owner went and cleaned it up. And continuing with that theme, there are numerous instances where a dog pooped but you can only get so much of it up from the astroturf. And dogs are running and wrestling and I'm sure it's getting in their fur. And then owners are petting their dogs. But it is a great place to bring your dog and...

I love that this park is finally open.

Pretty decent people who come to the park too, I've only seen a few irresponsible dog owners (e.g. not friendly dogs, people coming in to eat with their kids + no dog, people who leave both gates open for extended periods...

5 Stars – Dog Heaven on Earth 🐾🌳☀️ Channel Street Dog Park is everything you want in an off-leash paradise. Super friendly people, well-socialized dogs, no issues at all. It’s extremely clean, has plenty of space, perfect grass, and just the right amount of sunshine. Lighting’s great, parking’s easy, and there were tons of happy pups to play with. Honestly? One of the best dog parks I’ve ever been to.
