Walking down Valencia I spotted their sandwich board advertising home style Korean food with a photo of a delicious looking plate of Bulgogi. I’ve been a huge fan of kimchi and bulgogi since my time in the Army and some nostalgic comfort food sounded just right. They had one of those step by step menus where you choose your protein then your starch and any add ons. I went with the Bulgogi, rice noodles and kimchi on the side. It came out looking just like the picture. Although the place is small there are counters to stand or sit. I found a nice sidewalk table spot where I could watch the eclectic traffic cruising down Valencia’s bike lane. I’ll admit I felt a bit like a rockstar as the natives walked by and admired my food. The food was good, hearty but not heavy, and just the comfort I needed.

We stumbled upon this little gem while looking for a good Korean option and we couldn’t be happier that we found it. Great atmosphere, super friendly staff and the food was outstanding! We had the beef bulgogi and spicy chicken bowls and both were delicious. The place isn’t big, but it has ample seating inside and out and we had no trouble finding a spot. If you love Korean food and are anywhere near the Mission, get yourself to Matko soon!

Awesome place full of Korean food & snacks! My mom and I stumbled across it while walking on Valencia and saw the sign for the new misugaru latte (미숙가루 라때). We HAD to try it because it's not yet popular in the states and were so curious how it'd taste with coffee! We got it with the korean cereal on top (조리퐁) and it brought back memories of my childhood. Will visit again!

Matko is 😍 amazing 🤩 food which brought my soul-food experience home for me! Tears welled in my eyes after my first bite of kimchi. I felt hugs and such love in the fresh crunchy Napa cabbage with a clean, just right, mild kick of chili. The Hangover soup I ordered was the nourishment and comfort food my legs needed after walking the hills of San Francisco for two days like I'm a local, and not from the high desert of NM. My body and soul needed the food- and the obvious love and healing/positive energy infused within. Thank you Matko. My husband and I will always be grateful we chose to walk in the door and allow ourselves the delicious, nearly spiritual, foodie homecoming experience. Blessings...

Atrocious service

They insist on yelling order numbers inside even though a large chunk of their seating is outside. Which is fine... just means we need to wait inside.

They lost the order from someone in my group. The lady at the register (the owner?) needed to be reminded multiple times to look for it.

After they finally made the order, it got handed to a random person. I had to ask again before they realized the error.

Overall utterly...
