New Castillito Taqueria — Restaurant in San Francisco

Went here on a whim because we were in the mission and wanted tacos. They were close and had a SF Chronical top 100 sticker, so they should be good, right? Wrong! This is the first time I've been disappointed in tacos from the mission, ever.

Between two people we had 5 tacos, each a different meat. I believe it was the carne asada, Pollo, pastor, chorizo, and cabeza. Each and every one of them was... bland. Sure, they're edible, but they're the least flavorful tacos I've had. Worse yet is that they're probably the most expensive tacos in the mission too. Even their salsas were boring store bought blandness.

Not sure what all the 5 stars and hype is about, especially the hype about the new management. This is the 2nd time I've eaten from here after the new management because I thought maybe I just came on a bad day, but was even more disappointed than the first time. The new management actually made the place worse. It was much better before. I tried it before they changed management and it was amazing. They should've left it alone. Did they forget the salsa on the nachos? I see salsa on the picture in Doordash but if it's not in the description I guess it's not in the dish either. For $15 (as of Dec 2023), it's pretty pricey for what they are charging for dry nachos. Portion also wasn't very big. I had to supplement my own salsa and made it infinitely better. The birria in the nachos was also dry but not so dry to the point that it's inedible. Honestly the whole look of the nachos were pretty disappointing. The chips also weren't the best that I've had.
