I don’t like leaving bad reviews because Ive worked in the service industry for over a decade but this whole experience was just incredibly frustrating.
I’ve been here before with a friend and that time we each got bagel sandwiches, which were fine but nothing to come back for.
But we decided to share the bread pudding & we were both obsessed!! So good in all the ways! We were also glad we decided to share because it was perfect for two people.
I came back today just for the bread pudding & was so disappointed.
Came at a very random time, around 3pm, so there was only one other customer who already had their food.
I ordered a bread pudding to go and waited a really long time for how long that order specifically should take & also because it was completely dead.
I finally decided to ask who I ordered with how much longer and he completely forgot to make it, despite walking by and seeing me waiting me multiple times.
He was clearly new to the restaurant & definitely seems like the service industry as well.
Him & another server offered another bakery item because of the wait but none of it looked appetizing.
I was willing to let it go when I left even though I was pissed for waiting around for so long for no reason.
But then I get home & get something completely different.
Nothing on their menu indicates that the bread pudding has changed in anyway.
I don’t think he knew what it was because I open the box to see some kind of berry jam all over it.
And weird small portions and awkward pieces.
Nothing at all like what I had before.
Also why put whipped cream on the side in a container & not this jam?
But either way, this is not even what it’s supposed to be.
I was so looking forward to it & it was just a weird tasting soggy mess.
Never coming back here again. Complete waste of...
Read moreI drove all the way from Chico, almost 3 and a half hours, to check this place out, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Ocean Beach Cafe is a great little spot, serving up breakfast and lunch. Super tasty sandwiches, wraps, burritos, and salads, with a quick serve deli counter as well.
The reason I made the drive down, and where Ocean Beach Cafe really shines above anything else out there, is the non-alcoholic beverage selection. If you're not drinking, cutting down on your alcohol consumption, or even just have a remote curiosity about the multitude of NA beers, wines, and spirits that have recently started hitting the market, this is a must visit.
The selection is curated by Josh, a longtime hospitality and beverage industry veteran, so you know everything is going to be good. Everything on the shelves is the best of what's available right now. On top of the selection, you've got the knowledgeable and experienced staff available to help you out, answer questions, and guide you.
A regular breakfast or lunch visit will be great, but I can't recommend the SOBAR tasting highly enough. It's available on the weekends between 3 and 5, and you can reserve a spot on their Instagram page (click the "Book Now" button). For $25, Joshua will spend an hour with you opening beers, wines, and spirits, making cocktails, and guiding you through the incredible new market of non-alcoholic beverages. It's the equivalent of a wine tasting with an incredibly knowledgeable and personable host, but afterwards you can drive home without worries.
If you live near SF, this is a no-brainer. If you're a little further away and interested in non-alcoholic beverages, it's worth...

10 friends and I went on a Saturday afternoon to check out this incredibly special all-inclusive gem. We had cocktails made with mezcal, gin, and whiskey, a bottle of sparkling Chardonnay, and NA beer with CDB on tap. You name it- NO ALCOHOL! The drinks were inventive and the atmosphere is modest and welcoming. OCEAN BEACH CAFE is a MUST GO EXPERIENCE. Like, must go right now.
The owner, Josh, is incredibly passionate and talented with reinventing what It means to socialize. As a recovering alcoholic, this was amazing to me but everyone can enjoy this. Order your drink as you would at any bar and it will be handed to you with love. All the employees provided impecable service and were excited about the mission of this establishment with huge smiles and knowledge of the products. Josh taught us about a handful of NA spirits and even gave my friend and I a mini cocktail-making class. He made all of us feel comfortable and like we were at home. Thank you Josh for making my trip and 9 month celebration so special. This review cannot even describe how precious this was to me.
