The history for this windmill is fascinating and I'm happy to see that a handful of folk regularly maintain this little slice of heaven with a garden and work on the windmill itself. The windmill no longer functions in its capacity, but is a testament to the Navy's presence and technology at the time. Be sure to read the plaque for more information. It's crowded on weekends, but that's to be expected in SF. Dog friendly and picnic friendly.
This is good spot if you want to chill for a while, or check it out and leave after snapping a few pics. We opted for the latter since it was so crowded. We got some fun photos while we were there.
