A perfect seaside coffee stop at Andytown ☕🌊
Stopped by Andytown Coffee Roasters this weekend, and it’s safe to say this spot lives up to the hype. Tucked just a few blocks from Ocean Beach, it feels like a little neighborhood secret, even though the line out the door says otherwise. Totally worth the wait. I grabbed a seat on their patio, and wow, you can actually see the ocean from there. The salty breeze, the sound of the waves just faint in the distance, and a hot drink in hand? That’s peak Outer Sunset magic right there. It’s laid-back, local, and feels like a breath of fresh air, literally.
Now, about the coffee: their house specials are where it’s at. I tried the legendary Snowy Plover, and it blew me away. Imagine a shot of bold espresso, brown sugar syrup, sparkling water, and a huge scoop of homemade whipped cream on top. It sounds like a weird combo, but somehow it’s creamy, fizzy, refreshing, and totally addictive all at once. They also do a Wind & Sea Blend that’s fantastic smooth and rich, with just enough brightness to wake you up but not overpower your taste buds. Great for a straight-up drip coffee or pour-over if you’re more of a purist. The pastry game is strong too I grabbed a cheddar scallion scone and it was the perfect savory balance to the sweetness of the Snowy Plover. Staff was friendly, fast, and clearly knew their stuff. It’s the kind of place where you can tell everything is made with care, from the beans to the whipped cream. And the best part? No pretension. Just good coffee, good vibes, and a view that makes you want to sit and sip for hours.
If you’re heading out to Ocean Beach or just want a mini escape in the city, Andytown is a must. Come for the coffee, stay for the...
Read moreGreat atmosphere. Light, bright, airy and lots of natural greenery inside. Been coming here for a few years and the experience has always been okay. Today, I was outside on the deck reading a book but the wind picked up and it got really cold, so I decided to pack up and finish my drink inside. I pulled out my laptop to look something up quickly, but then I was told by one of the baristas that the whole lobby is "tech free" and to "close my laptop". A coffee shop that bans laptops? Are you serious? I was encouraged to go outside to use any electronics - yes, outside in the freezing cold, windswept, bay to use my laptop. If you're willing to put up with this bullshit, along with consistently uninterested and apathetic baristas (there are a couple nice ones though) then by all means please come here and enjoy an average drip. Otherwise, I would advise you to head to Ocean Beach Cafe around the corner - much more welcoming, understanding, and their coffee is amazing. As a final note, I do want to give a shoutout to the Andytown on Taraval; always cheerful, happy, and wayyyyyyy better vibe than the Great...
Read moreI love the potential and dislike this place. The atmosphere is beach, airy, bright, peaceful; an architectural gem. Weekends are unpleasant. This business has made the place less comfortable as a popular cafe and seems to attract rude customers. I have encountered less seating because it is replaced with more shelves for selling retail items. They have two tables by the ocean view window labeled tech free view that were occupied with customers parked for an afternoon with their laptops. A woman with her large dog seated at the indoor couch lunged and snapped at my young son’s face as we walked past. Are non service dogs allowed inside? What outdoor seating is available is in the shade and chilly. So many seats occupied with laptop users. Children’s little chairs by the coffee table but adults seated in them because of the lack of seating. If you come here when things are calmer, it has potential to be a nice visit. I brought visiting family here to experience a beautiful cafe with an ocean view but...
