I've been a few times and the staff have always been awesome. The atmosphere inside is super relaxed. Everyone's just there to hang out. The German theme is great and it means that there are beers inside that are drinkable! It's technically a sports bar, but though TVS dominate one of the walls, the sports is not in your face so it's actually pleasant to be inside. I love the atmosphere of the place!
The one downside is that the food is a bit hit or miss. My first time I got the spaetzle, which is one of my favorite German dishes. It's a sort of gnocchi/mini dumpling type thing. The spaetzle itself was quite unlike how I've experienced it before: it was too soft and eggy. The flavor was also a bit lacking and it was served with some bottom of the barrel pre-grated cheese. It would be awesome if this dish was revisited with a bit of love, because it's a simple dish but it can be delicious. Maybe serve it with some nicer (fresh grated) cheese and work on the base flavor. I also got the chicken strips most recently which were a bit overdone and dry. On the other hand I got the steak special recently and it was great. Very solidly prepared and tasty!
So yeah. All in all, despite a few nit picks about the food, Steins is a great neighborhood bar. So great, in fact, I come from a different neighborhood...

This restaurant bar has a wide selection of alcoholic beverages. I came for a burger and onion rings though. I ordered the burger medium and had the fries substituted for onion rings, totalling $11.96 before tip. Between the toasted buns, there were fresh slices of onion and tomato, and a piece of lettuce on a perfectly seasoned patty. I love great onion rings and this place has great onion rings. They're battered, not breaded, and perfectly crisped. The onion is cooked well, so the onion doesn't get pulled out when you bite in. My food came with ketchup, mayonnaise, and mustard, but it was so good, I didn't need any of it.
I'd recommend visiting this restaurant bar, because they have delicious and fairly-priced food. It seems to have lots of German stuff. I'd visit again and try some of their sausages or breakfast items.
On a separate visit, I had their wienerschnitzel. It was crisp and...
Read moreI have looked for a great German place to watch European football in company with other people who route for our national team for a long time. Today I found the perfect spot. I first called and Alex, one of the owner brothers, picked up the phone. We had a very cheerful conversation. He was accommodating and uptone. So I looked up photographs of the Steins. It appeared to be promising. I arrived early to secure a good seat for the European Championship first-round game between France and Germany. Phil, Alex's brother, was very welcoming and cordial. We had a great conversation until he had to go to the kitchen to prepare the meals for the customers. I was pleasantly surprised about the size and quality of the numerous TV screens. They are much bigger than they appear on their photographs. Even though Germany lost 0:1 against France with an own-goal, I enjoyed my visit at Steins. I will definitely be back for the next game...
